I just completed experienced driver training at Schneider. I have to call my Driver manager on Monday to find out where I will need to go to pick up my tractor. It may be that I will have to be flown out to Phoenix or Denver to get it.
Right now the only red flag is with what I was told by the recruiter and what I am being told by my new Driver manager. The recruiter told me that I had several options: 2 weeks out / 2 days home, 11 days out / 3 days home and 7 days out / 2 days home. I chose seven and two. When I told my new driver manager this he kinda gave me a disappointed look and said that he cannot guarantee me being home immediately following seven days out. He also said that I will make no money with a schedule like that. I let him know that I am not concerned about money as I have extra income from another source. In the end I just want to be able to travel around a bit and enjoy some trucking.

Driver manager is right. If you want home time. Do regional or local.
Avdriver Thanks this. -
-
Yes, that's regional. Still not easy for him to give you home time every 7 days. Understand, and work with him. Give and take so to speak.
Is that Interstate 15, or 5? -
-
If you see a lot of I-5 you will be going up and down between SoCal and WA.
Very boring, if you ask me. But, if you like that kind of thing... -
1 st lesson, never believe a recruiter or a dispatcher.
Dino soar, Canadianhauler21, Woodys and 2 others Thank this. -
I gotta admit. I5 constantly would drive me bonkers. But then, I'm an OTR driver. I like change.
Wish you the best! -
Oh, the gullible youth, here's how it works. They will promise you the moon to get you in, then you,,,are,,,theirs. They can send you to the moon if they want. You can't go to an outfit like Orange, and expect to be home, it doesn't work that way. Freight hauler, dump truck, tanker, city delivery, no problem, but going with Schneider, we ( and they) don't want to hear that you want to be home. Sorry, welcome to the machine,,,
Dino soar, Lumper Humper, Canadianhauler21 and 3 others Thank this. -
Doesn’t sound like you’re treating your new job seriously -
Don’t be surprised if they treat you the same.
