Wait you're only 18? You couldn't have had much of a job history then.

You need a normal job at home. Driving isn’t for you. You’re not 18, you’re mid 30’s and never held a job. Gotta crawl before you can walk Ol’ son. Start at a grocery store or something. You say the school lies about how long the training takes, but in reality, it’s you that is the problem.

i loved my time as a yardman..telling truckers where to go, or get put down the list.....kicking them off the property as the neighbors don't want and the cops come when they complain of overnight stays. good times.

seriously though, it was a great stress free job, had lots of time to watch my mini color tv, had no worries about loading trailers, and when the customer had any sort of party..?? i got invited.

I worked for Ryder at the time, then they lost the account to Lily..then they too lost the account..nearly 2 years of good times

While people with anxiety and depression can work in trucking if you got qualified for disability, the real question will you handle the high stress of trucking. I have my problems too, but I can safely say trucking isn't for a lot of people. Did you even disclose that to the medical examiner? The reason I ask surely they will put those two together eventually. I would hate you get down road in this and say 2 years or so they say you shouldn't drive commercially because the government is slow to react on stuff. I think even on medical questions for med card, ask if you have anxiety, I mean, I always put no, but there is no way to measure whether someone has high anxiety short of telling them.

Trucking isn't exactly great for depression either, and it's arguably one of the worst things to do. If I knew what I knew, I likely would just go to the oil field and forget the CDL because in the oil field, they don't really care what you're on or do as long as you get the job done. Trucking, you're really restricted in what you can take.

What does my age have to do with it? They said they'd hire people right out of trucking school. I want to drive, and I've invested an enormous amount of my time and of the governments money from both voc rehab and my SSI. (Ive been a stay at home dad with a wife and son, and she's had to either take him to work or watch him while I'm at school).

How can you put a time on a course if there are no grades and no pass/fail? I can't imagine enrolling in a Calculus class and being told "Eh, stick around until you get it, and then you can test "

You don’t get it. You have to pass the test for dmv. If you can’t shift, or do other things correctly, you’ll fail the test. It’s because YOU’RE not getting it yet.

I did indeed disclose my mental health issues to the medical examiner. I had to have notes from my doctor's about that, as well as the medicines I take.

The issue is - trucking is the only career I have any interest in. Id be driving a Class B vehicle anyway - I'm just getting Class A to help with job prospects. That's what I've been asking about. I absolutely do not want to go over the road, and can't anyway - since I'm restricted to my state.

Then why would they advertise it as "four weeks"? The correct phrase would be "as long as it takes."

So the school is advertised as taking 4 weeks and you're upset because it's taken you two months and you still haven't passed? Did you just expect them to hand you a license without having to prove you are capable of the basic minimums required to obtain a CDL?

If I were you I'd look at it from a different angle and be grateful that they are still trying to teach you and affording you the extra time. The school I attended would've kicked you out for not progressing.

How can you blame the school for your ineptitude?
