I didn't say it upsets me. I said it's false advertising. Even the instructors will tell you that it generally takes longer than 4 weeks for the average student. It would be like colleges saying "Learn Latin in a week!", and then you'd tell me "What, you didn't learn it that quick? You should be glad they're still helping you, you ungrateful simpleton!"

Schools need to be honest and say that it varies person-to-person. Because it's not like trucking students can go home and practice backing and shifting, whereas a Latin student can study the language at home.

Road construction, they are in need of belly dumps somewhere, dump trucks, and superdump trucks there is also water trucks. The construction company I work for is one the bigger companies they don't help you study or anything on the written test but will give you truck to test out no charge of any money on non-compete contracts either and its normally local to your state even the bigger ones

    FredTheBasset Thanks this.

The majority complete it in the advertised time, and the usual number of hours of instruction. Some dont, you are in the some dont category. You can fixate on "they should have told me" or "it's false advertising " but really in the end, it's you not accomplishing the tasks to the level needed to pass.

You keep coming back to that point about the training being longer than advertised.

How are you going to manage when you are working and it takes longer than you were told to get loaded/offloaded or accomplish any other task?

Why it matters about your age is, you have no work history to speak of in relation to your age. Wonderful you were able to be a stay at home dad, but that isn't the same thing.

At the end of four weeks, in this case, you test and pass or fail. Class is over.

The majority do not complete it in that time. That's simply a number the trucking schools/companies came up with that sounds good for marketing purposes. I've spoken to multiple veterans of trucking who told me that usually the only people who finish in four weeks are the ones who've already had experience driving off-road for factories. One guy said the only way he finished so quick is that they had him doing it all day, 7 days a week.

The fact that I can't meet unrealistic expectations is not my fault - it's the fault of the lying SOB's who made them up. If someone says it takes four weeks to do something, that implies it's easy to learn. But the data shows that it's not. And if they ever give me an unrealistic delivery time on the job - again, that's on them. The laws of physics and biology can only be modified by God.

As for me being a stay at home dad, I can't believe I'm about to use this term, but I see what women mean when they talk about a patriarchy; Raising a child is the hardest and most important job a person can do. Moving stuff or putting widgets together is trivial in comparison, because without properly-raised children, all other jobs cease to exist.

I go to a private trucking school, so that has not been my experience. Is that how they do it with the "free" company training? How does that account for the fact that each person learns at a different speed?

I guess my question is why did you come on here and ask for help if you already know everything? Every answer you get, you’ve got an answer for about how it’s not your fault. Quit making excuses with nonsense adhd, autistic , and whatever else “handicapped” excuses you have and get your #### together. Life won’t care or stop for your excuses.

School isn't where you learn everything. It's where you learn to pass the state test. Your first employer typically sends new drivers out with a trainer for a month or two. That is where you learn the 95% school didn't teach you. In class A OTR that's how it is commonly done. I don't know what class B does.

Every single person in my class passed in the allotted time.

The truth of the matter is that passing your CDL exam does not mean you know how to drive. It just means you met the bare minimums.

If you can't even do that after two months you should look elsewhere for employment.

BTW trucking is one of the most stressful jobs someone can do. IMO, it's pretty hard to go from never working to truck driving all day every day.

Swim the Pacific for me in a couple days - from New York to London. Cant't do it? Don't make excuses for ineptitude.

Set me up a government that never becomes corrupt. Again - no excuses.

Build me a spacecraft that goes faster-than-light. What? Can't do that either?! Excuses, excuses!

It must be one of those 7-day a week company training deals that I heard about. For the record, Ive always been good on my pretrip. My problem was backing and shifting
I switched to automatic, and am finally doing ok with backing, and almost ready to test.

Is Class B local driving as stressful as OTR?
