There is some truth to that. Small exposure to different things like viruses and bacteria and different things. Your body is always building immunity behind the scenes. This is kind of funny, but I was chatting with a driver who’s been out here for 30 years the other day and he said he never once Wore shower shoes in any of the truckstop showers and he’s never caught athletes foot in his entire life. He claims it’s because he’s built up immunity to i by probably being exposed to it thousands of times. I tend to believe him because athletes foot is extraordinarily contagious.Sons Hero, hope not dumb twucker and Brandt Thank this.

Know your own health issues and plan accordingly. For example.
Adhesive capsulitis, gout or any other joint inflammation = Naproxen (Aleve in a pinch), Colchicine, Indomethacin.
Perieanal cyst (learned the hard way) = Full course of broad spectrum antibiotic, start taking and then seek care.
Go to Urgent Care as a last resort - don't let it get to an ER visit.
Tramadol at the most for pain, avoid the condones etc. Ibuprofen .
Mucinex 'D' for chest/head congestion - the kind you have to show your drivers license for.
Loratadine for allergy, Benadryl lotion for skin irritation. Sunscreen and wide hat before it gets to that. (Super white guy).
I keep a rolling stock medicine cabinet. I have my GP double up on meds, he understands I drive and do not abuse medications.
I never got Covid, I rarely get a cough or cold or flu, but the above described are the ones that will prevent me from doing my job - so I prepare accordingly. Each individual is different, prepare for your own necessity.D.Tibbitt and Sirscrapntruckalot Thank this. -
I don't do shower shoes, they throw me off balance.
But the last thing I wash in the shower is my feet. Always wash (with soap) your feet and it probably won't be a problem.hope not dumb twucker Thanks this. -
I have never worn shower shoes and never had athletes foot. Been showering at truckstops since 2004 when I started my old flatbed job. I’ve also always used the towels provided at the truckstop.D.Tibbitt, Sons Hero, Arctic_fox and 3 others Thank this.

Same, though if a shower smells iffy or looks REALLY bad i also carry a spray bottle of industrial strength bleach, use it maybe 1 time in 12 but its nice to have. I.e this is 12.5% medical grade bleach. Ill use it to mist the #### out of the shower and then use the toilet before i rinse the shower and then use it. I also have lysol wipes i use on any toilet at a truckstop. With how nasty these drivers can be i dont want to risk getting crabs or some ####.
I also carry bed bug spray. After the 4th time i got bedbugs in my truck from washers ill spray down the washers first then load my clothing in and wash them on hot.D.Tibbitt, hope not dumb twucker, Long FLD and 2 others Thank this.
