Get a lawyer, stop second guessing, stop thinking about any resolutions you can prompt because without legal advice and action, you are going to end up paying for it.

I’ve gone through this with a couple trucks, in each case my lawyer had to threaten the tow company and their insurance company with litigation after they claimed they had no liability involved after they destroyed the transmission.

Plan is to Monday morning after talk to a few people. Will just contact my attorney and have her deal with it. Slept on it and I think I might just get her involved so I don’t have to worry about it. Great advice. Thanks

My 2015 Volvo drive shaft always gets dropped. I can’t say what I wanna say about the Miami community, but that whole town is grimy. It’s the reason I prefer ft lauderdale.

I’m a company driver with a large fleet behind me, but next time I’d recommend calling Volvo or whoever the OEM of your truck is and asking who they partner with for towing in the area and use them. A freight liner, Volvo, or Pete dealer isn’t going to use the Rico suave living in his moms basement.

That’s what we do at aaa cooper for regional drivers.

Ha ha yeah that is what I thought. I called the Miami Volvo office and they recommended these guys. Turned out that they could not take me in so had to go to Fort Lauderdale instead because I had a trailer. Unfortunately they do not use that tow company and they have bad reviews. I didn’t even look since Volvo had recommended them. Was a huge mistake on my part to just go with them and not look them up.

Did you get any money for lost time out? Just wondering how that worked?

I found an engine. It turns out changing from a DDEC2 to 3 or 4 will cost a lot in rewiring. So the engine I've got is a 450 our of a 93 Kenworth. I think you had recommended the place in Idaho. They pull the pan and inspect the engine. If it needs bearings they'll roll them for the same price. If the liners are no good, they won't sell the engine. The shop where it is will put in an engine. Expensive but if I have it towed elsewhere, that will make up the difference.

    Thanks for your help.

Glad you found a solution. But it wasn't me who recomemmended the place in Idaho. I don't know who was. Thanks for answering.

I think some freightliners already have a warning sticker on the door jam. But I'm curious if it would be worth making something like this into a sticker that you could place next to the VIN tag and then you can show the tow truck driver and there should be no argument.

So I believe I am gonna write an email to my lawyer and my insurance company on same email. See if they all want to work this thing together. This should cover my butt regardless at that point.

So a quick update. I talked to my attorney this morning and she does not have license in FL so will not be using her but she is gonna recommend a lawyer she knows in the area.

On another note I did find the Insurance company for the Tow Company and filed a claim with them. Will see what happens in the next few days.

Also Volvo Dealer says 100 percent sure that I will need a new transmission from being towed without drive shaft being removed.
