Unfortunately most major carriers base their management on the lowest common denominator ie; the driver that misses appointments, does not take of the equipment and is generally high maintenance. It is assumed we have no ability to think for ourselves nor do we have the best interests of the company in mind. We can steer and shift gears, that's it.

Hey JD, I think the Missions play Midland, that will be a good game.

I was talking to a poly driver today on the phone and he was in that area. He went up 81 to 77 and then up into WV. Was he driving a FL Columbia?

They just finished a four game home stand with Midland yesterday. Midland won the series 3-1. They played the Corpus Christi Hooks tonight & were losing 4-1 when we left in the 7th inning. I find minor league baseball more entertaining. If I ever have extra time during a run I seek out a ball game. I've watched minor league ball in Harrisburg,PA, Binghampton,NY, New Orleans, several locations in FL, Beloit,WI, Corpus Christi, Great Falls,Tacoma, Salt Lake City, Jackson,TN, Indianapolis, Peoria, & probably a few others I can't recall. It's a great value & I can usually strike up a conversation. Makes for a nice reprieve from the road.

Finished my four stop load from Eugene Oregon to Lubbock TX. I got a back haul from Lubbock down to Houston and then got a plant transfer from Mont Belvieu to Grand Prairie. I was overdue on my PM and the generator on my APU had quit so I put my truck in for service. I put myself on the outbound board for Friday with a request to go home for 5 days. Outbound calls me Thursday afternoon with a load to North Vernon IN that delivers Sunday 0530. I can go empty once I unload.
Trip was 12 days and I turned in 5250 miles and 9 stops. Not bad for running legal and seeing some beautiful country.

How far do they allow you to deadhead once empty to get home, or do they prefer to have you squeeze in hometime under a load most of the time?
