I meant no offense. My husband is still very interested in Poly. It would be nice to see him more than once a month and not have to worry about one or two crappy paychecks as penance for daring to take home time.

Nice to hear from you brother. Hope all is going well with you in your neck of the woods. Things here at Poly are about as good as one can expect for a job pounding the pavement. Take care man.

    More than likely waiting.

What kind of home time can a Poly driver expect living on the Ohio/PA border on I80?

Home time is subjective no matter where you live.

Home time will be accommodated in conjunction with dispatch. They WILL work to get you home when you request. Some areas are easier than others.

Most times you will be given an outbound load that has extra time, & will allow you to pass thru the house. Or if possible be given an outbound load that you can deliver then go home.

Again load availability & delivery schedules will dictate what dispatch can accomplish for each driver. There are no guarantees, this is still OTR.

Bah, pretty much several sub par days in a row. My load that was supposed to be ready at 0800 this morning mysteriously is scheduled for 1800. Three stopper going to Broken Arrow, OK, KC, MO and finishing out up in Cottage Grove, MN. Unfortunately won't be able to knock out the first two on the same day which puts me in MN late Thursday night instead of Thursday morning. Well at least the KC drop is located next to Harrah's casino so I will be able to get in some poker to pass the time. Still going to be a good month but not as spectacular as I had anticipated.

The shop did have my air hose for the APU so I replaced that and everything is working fine now. Just bought a big slab of salmon and fixing to tear into that sashimi style:)

Be careful, keep an eye to the sky. From southern OK thru the midwest all the way to the Twin Cities are suppose to have some nasty weather for most of the week.

Best wishes to those applying with Poly. Seems I didn't make the cut. It would've been nice to hear some explanation as to why. Might try again later. Thanks for the informative thread!

Did they tell you that you didn't make the cut? The hiring process at Poly can frustrate anyone. I'm not sure any of us on this thread can even explain it. Just know that it may not be you or your driving record that doesn't get you hired. Not everyone gets hired even if they are a perfect candidate. Poly isn't a trucking business like most might think it is. Yes, Poly is NOT a trucking company. They are Poly-America. They are a manufacturing company that has a trucking division to haul a lot of their own stuff. Not everyone gets hired. Doesn't mean you have anything wrong. You can have more experience than me and have a perfect driving record. Doesn't mean you'll get hired. However, the best advise I can offer is for you to not give up. Keep applying and maybe eventually you'll get on. If they haven't told you anything that's more normal than you may think. Good Luck with it. Take care out there. :)

Up in Cottage Grove. Was able to sweet talk an early unloading yesterday in KC that saved me about 16 hours. Had planned on picking up a load here for two drops in Portland and Augusta, Maine but called the receiver in Portland and they couldn't take the load until 1100 Wednesday. I axed that load and luckily grabbed a two stop mom and pop going to Nebraska and Colorado with very flexible receiving times that should have me empty no later than early Saturday morning. Will be near the bean companies so perhaps will have a decent chance of a good load to tide me over the holiday.

Thanks for the reply. The hard part with this is no one has an idea of how to make themselves a more desirable candidate. It did go as far as the phone interview so perhaps it was something I said. I totally understand the "out and back" concept running on the GE Plastics board that Crete ran over 10 years ago. Heck, I was planning on parking my personal vehicle at GP. It's not so bad at Gordon, ie, 2013 Cascadia with tripak, no northeast, and above average miles, $.40cpm straight pay, and very decent insurance so while I think Poly would have been a move up, its in HR's hands. Hope to still chat with the drivers when I see them. Thanks again!
