The 'pay the fine' approach only works the first year or two, then the fine goes up a lot to where it's not saving them anymore. I read an article somewhere about just that subject a while back. It was just that reason I decided not to go back into owning my own truck. The first couple years I would've been ok, but after 2016...there's no way. It's almost like we can't afford not to have insurance, but if you have insurance you still can't afford to get sick enough to use it.

Before the govt got its nose into everthing and screwed it all up. The churches and private corp and charities did it. I might add much beter results and much more cost effective. Just look at public schools that don't educate but only teach you can't do it only govt can. As far as orphans the best option is adoption to a loving family
The reason it doesn't happen more is because govt regulation drive the cost up. It cost me 26k for each of my 2 adoptions and that not counting the grants I got from private organizations. Big govt always leads to tyranny

The increase in fine past the two year mark mat be true, I don't know, but I'll ask my wife. She did say that, inspite of the cheaper cost by just paying the fine, her company was going to continue to provide health insurance. Maybe an excessive increase in the fine past x number of years is the reason.

So is your vent because you think it is a good idea to abort babies to save them from all the perils conservatives heep on the poor?

In my opinion radioshark is correct about the welfare of the less fortunate being the responsibility of family/church relationships. Yes, I practice what I preach inspite of the high taxes I pay. Matt 26:11 Jesus tells us that we will always have the poor. No amount of money thrown at a government program to help them will alieviate their plight.

It is my opinion that we (America) do not have many truely poor people. Why? When those we (America) classify as "POOR" have an obesity problem, own cars, have cell phones, wear decent clothes, live in decent housing, have internet/computers, cable TV, and have access to education, there is not a "POOR PROBLEM". The "POOR" in America live better than 95% of the rest of the world.

The problem that plagues any nation, political party, corporation, or political system is SELFISH GREED. This is something that cannot be legislated, regulated, or tax for a solution. The ONLY solution is a change in the heart. Only a relationship with Jesus can cause that change.

In other news, after almost a week at home I left GP Monday and am currently in Tacoma,WA where I will deliver my first stop in the morning then final in Kent,WA early afternoon. No backhaul yet.

A company looks at your qualifications and your past ( criminal history, work history, driving record ). In my opinion, they don't care what some driver thinks. The exception might be if it is a drivers family member or a friend they know .well. Either you meet their standards or you don't.

A recommendation wouldn't matter. But today, companys' standards aren't too high anyway.

I was making a general statement. A recommendation might count at some companies.

I hesitated to answer this, but since it was answered by someone who doesn't work for Poly, I will now.

Here at Poly a reference can help. I have personal insight that it can. That it's all I will say on the open forum.

I have read most of this thread and I am interested in a little more info. I have not read what Poly's policy is for vacation pay, holiday pay, and 401k contributions. Any insight appreciated. Mike

Vacation pay is not good... it's based on hourly pay of 40 hrs after one year at $12.50hr.

    Holiday pay... there is none.

401k...don't know (shame on me), I'll find out. Do know there is profit sharing, not sure how it works. Again, I'll find out.
