Ive been at Poly for 3 years great place to work. A word of advice if you put in a application in with them DO NOT CALL AND CHECK ON IT OR EMAIL. Poly will call you if your hired it may take a long time a long long time. If you call or email to check on your application this will get you in the no file. Thats what ive been told by people in the office. Poly is not a trucking company they are a manufacturing company that has there own trucks. No one knows how Poly hires there drivers its like a luck of the draw.

I have to agree on luck of the draw but I must have timed it right because it took me 3 days from application to approval. Perhaps it was the fact that most of the 10 yrs the DOT makes employers verify was spent with 1 company. The fact that we are the transportation leg of manufacturer kinda gives us a bit of an avantage in one area. We aren't in competition with other freight hauling companies when it comes to outbound so we at least get loads out, sometimes backhauls may be a challenge...but that is on someone elses shoulders...thankfully.

I had to go pickup the load, which took an hour to accomplish. Then I went to Wal-Mart.

BTW, I hope to have the login issues corrected soon. Until then, I'm temporaryJD.

Have to disagree with not following up with emails. Phones calls are indeed useless until HR contacts you.

Follow-up with emails to make sure they received your application, & then about two weeks later to check on application status are advisable. That's what I, & several others I know that have hired on did.

As to how they determine who they hire, I was told they will hire from all over the US (restrictions apply), but only if there are spots available from areas other than DFW.

FYI, this account is the temporary home of jdrentzjr. I can't log in to my old account & admin is slow in responding (it is the weekend).

Well I've been told by Jesse raia, Martin and others it's a waste of time check on your application .As far as how they hire You can 10 years driving and a clean record living in grand prairie and not get hired. But they will hire a guy with one year driving that lives in Montana. That's what I ment by luck of the draw. I know drivers with clean driving records in the dfw area who have been trying to get on withe Poly. One guy for 3 years they just put a new application in every 90 days

Hey SuperSnackBar, I enjoyed reading your answer about your decision to come to Poly. I could tell from reading it that you genuinely feel better about your decision to come. I'm glad things are starting to shape up better for you. I knew Poly would be a good fit for you. I haven't ever met you but knew from many of your Posts that you were looking for much of the same things I was when I came to Poly. In addition, I was happy to hear when you decided to listen to some of us and give it a try. I know what it takes to do what you did. I was worried you might 2nd guess yourself to soon with some of the unfortunate luck you were having. I didn't want Poly to let you down. I knew that if you could experience things here like I have you would be doing "The Dance"(as U call it) as well. No job is perfect and you're not a truck driver if you can't find something to complain about. Many things have their moments. Anyways, thanks for sharing your answer the way you did with us on here. Be safe in your travels and I'll continue to look forward to reading your posts about your experiences here at Poly. Glad we have this forum and thanks to all of you that share things here for me to read. Take care out there! :)

Sounds like you may be getting misinformed. We all know where one lives has as much to do about getting hired as anything. My experience went quickly like many others have. There are many factors in addition to the one's you've mentioned. Talk to the man that has the most influence on getting someone hired and maybe you'll be better informed. In addition, it is never wise to not follow up on things of such importance. If that cancels your chances of getting hired then you didn't need that job anyway. It absolutely helped for me to follow up on my hiring process so please respect those of us that post that information about it. Maybe your example guy should follow up. Couldn't hurt if he's been striking out for three years. Maybe he could find an address in Montana or something if that's the ticket. It should be common sense that living in the DFW area makes working at Poly much better for many reasons. Be fortunate if you are one of the lucky ones that gets to cash in on that option. I do believe it may be harder to get on from living in the DFW area. However, my thoughts are just theories of my own choosing and may not hold water. I encourage you to give it some thought from a different angle and maybe that'll help. Congratulations on making 3 plus years. Hopefully the person you know gets hired some day. Not everyone gets hired as many of us have mentioned before on some of our posts. I still encourage anyone thinking about it to GO FOR IT...never know...it's been a great move for me so far. Good luck everyone in whatever you choose to do and take care out there! :)
