Well, I got my taxes done even though the IRS doesn't accept them until tomorrow or the next day. I spent 1 more day away from home last year than I did the year before, but because of Crete's slow and low mile freight, all the breakdowns there and the switch to Poly...I made $3000 less(total gross, not taxable income)...but I have higher hopes for 2014. It appears that it is getting off to a decent start for many here...lets hope it's one for the record books for all of us.

If it said FedEx on the side, it'd be laid over across all the lanes. :biggrin_25523:

Tomorrow should be interesting. I reload in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains in North River,NY going to Deer Park,TX. The drive from Tully,NY to North River would probably be very beautiful during any other time of year. Oh well, could still be a nice drive. That's why I get paid the big $$$$......riiiiight. Plan on getting to Hammond,LA by kickoff on Super Bowl Sunday.

Well someone decided it would be better for me to backtrack to GP for a PM from San Antonio before heading to Vegas than to get it done out on the road. So more money for me and I got to go to the front of the PM line. Managed to get out of there in about 3 hours and still had time to knock out another 200 miles tonight before tiring out in Tye, TX. Delivering this load to the Mandalay Bay Casino on Sunday morning and then heading on over to the Flamingo for a couple of free hotel days. Anyone stuck in Poly West over Sunday or Monday and want to visit the strip I should have a spare bed to crash in while there.

Yesterday my county was under a winter storm warning...by Sunday, it is suppose to be 80 degrees here. No wonder everyone in my house is sick, coughing and sneezing all over me. Things are back as close to normal as can be expected so I'll be back out on the road as of Monday.

The test is math, reading comprehension stuff if I remember correctly. 50 or so questions that is timed and you likely won't finish it. My interview was pretty short and sweet. He asked me when I could start basically. If you got the call for a face to face interview you should probably be in the door unless something goes terribly wrong. Good luck.

actually, cold and dry weather dry your mucous membrane thus causing your immune and bacteria filtration system to be less effective...allowing the virus or bacteria to penetrate your body more easily...I found this article...not sure who the author is...all the credit goes to Healthline.

"Dry air outdoors, as measured by absolute humidity, may also be linked to flu outbreaks. According to#The National Institutes of Health (NIH), dry winter air allows the flu virus to survive and transmit itself.Additional NIH#research#suggests that the flu virus’s coating becomes tougher at temperatures around the freezing point, making it easier to transmit. So if you are wary of becoming sick in the winter, you may be correct that viruses are more active and resilient at this time.#Being outside in cold weather inhibits the ability of mucus and nasal hairs to work disease agents out of your nose. It’s also likely that when you get back inside, in a room with the windows shut and people sniffling, that you are more likely to be exposed to germs. As people return to colleges, schools, work, and day-care centers in the fall, viruses find ideal conditions to hop from one host to another, even before cold weather really sets in."
