I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again. I can't believe how much better things work here over other places I've worked. Honestly, even when I was leased to Landstar, I couldn't plan as far ahead as I do here. It isn't uncommon to know where you're going 5 or 6 days ahead here. The load I'm on will most likely final Wed morning(depending on Snoqualmie) so once I know for sure then I'm on the phone to backhaul which will likely get me set up into next weekend. If that's the case, then I may be looking at a 3800-4000 mile week. Add that to what I'll be turning in today, it'll put me in the 9000's for the month by the 3rd week. Not as impressive as Jan, but who could complain about exceeding 20,000 miles for the year by the 23rd of February, including 8 days off.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

SS, glad it's all coming together for you. Told you so.
supersnackbar Thanks this. -
The one thing that I underestimated and underutilized when I 1st came here was the willingness of most of the drivers to offer usefull advice(most drivers at other companies want to tell you how you're screwing up...not how to succeed). Once I learned to tap into that resource, it made the adjustment easier.
Thanks again for your part of that help!jdrentzjr and LilRobWayne Thank this. -
SS, the willingness of other drivers here to help with good info is indeed something that drivers at larger carriers seem to lack. There is no "us vs them" attitude from anyone who is a driver or in operations.
Just another reason why.......wait for it......
I love my job!LilRobWayne Thanks this. -
I may never get out of MN. When I unloaded in Burnsville Monday it took them all 30 minutes. Today 2.5 hours. I get to UPN, get the shop to push out my miles for service again. Then hook up and pull on the scale. And the computer says I am light, I have to pull back in and have to back in to a door and have them count pallets. Go to leave...and my truck is out of service for oil change again. Call all three numbers to the shop...voice mail, voice mail and voice mail. So I call Tommy on his cell...then text him on his cell...now I'm waiting at the gate for them to get around to it. But, I still love my job. My appointments are set. My 1st stop won't take it before 11am Monday, My 2nd stop won't take it after 3 pm so I have to wait until Tuesday...and my 3rd stop says FCFS by 3 pm so I'll be empty Wednesday...with a reset again.

Well, my husband is SUPPOSED to start on Tuesday. Hopefully.... He chose to drive his Mustang from PA to TX instead of having Poly fly him back, because we plan to be moving down there in the next few months, and that's one less vehicle to worry about when we make the move. He headed out this morning, since he wants to be there by Sunday night (we're paying for a night in the hotel halfway there and then Sunday night in TX) so that he can spend Monday with our realtor looking at houses. He didn't get very far when his Mustang started acting up...throttle position sensor problems. He's heading back home, and hopefully it's a quick fix so he can get back on the road!! Fingers crossed! If it's serious, we may be paying for airfare instead and I'll be left with getting the Mustang fixed, and then we have to figure out how to get it to TX later on. Is it a sign that this was the wrong choice for us? Or is it just the world's way of giving him some vehicle problems because he's going to get into a perfectly running truck at Poly? Haha! One can only hope it's the latter.

6 hours later, but he is finally on the road! Got the car all fixed and running great! Texas, look out! My husband will be there tomorrow night!

I wish I could screw up my job as bad as weather forcasters and still keep it. Before I accepted a load going to Seattle, I looked at the weather/interstate forcast. It looked as though there would be a window on Tuesday where I could get through Snoqualmie without problems...now they are talking major precip. I checked both the WaDOT app and the weather channel's forcast before Outbound called. Now they are both saying I am in deep doo doo for Tuesday...and I will have all of 7 pallets crossing 4th of July in ID and across WA. yeee-*bleep*ing-haw
