Just have to reassure him that it would be tough to find a company with a better earning potential and a better home time policy than Poly. He might find one that pays slightly higher..but he'd have to all but live away from home. Or find one that got him home a lot, but wouldn't pay enough.

Even with my early frustrations here, (and my current frustrations with our so-called shop) I am so glad I stuck it out and got thru the tough adjustment period. And part of what helped me through it was a wife at home who was able to keep me focused on how much better off we are and going to be once it did turn around.

After 2 killer paychecks (that equal a normal months take home) I am going to have 3 crappy ones. Well 2 crappy ones and then a 0. The load out of WA to Monroe ran my logbook real hard, so I couldn't get going until Wednesday. Then, with me wanting to get home next weekend to start my remodel, I didn't go to IN which would have then gotten me to MN then out west again. So this remodel it going to cost me some miles. All that bs'g around with the shop yesterday also put me in a bind.. It made me split log to make it to K/C on time. Now I am picking up in Joplin going to Killgore, TX for Monday and it's too far out of route to do a 900 at the yard. Then once I get done there my next load probably will be my home load. So after an 11,000+ mile Jan and an almost 10,000 mile Feb(by the 23rd) my March sure isn't coming in like a lion. I might have to delay the next home time to finish my addition for an extra few weeks just to get back on track.

But, I can't blame anyone but myself for this.

I know what some of the regular poster's may me thinking..."is this the same snackbar that use to rip on Crete any time he hit a little bump in the road?" Yes...and no. Same person, totally different attitude. If I were at Crete and the same thing happened to me there as what happened yesterday at the Poly shop...I would have posted some very rough posts about Crete as a whole. Mainly because, as a corporation, I got the feeling after all those years that Crete, for the most part, really didn't give a *bleep*. However, over here, I have gotten the totally opposite feeling from most departments...except from the 3 stooges in the shop. Here, I still like who I work for, and am still upbeat about working here for as long as they'll have me...I'll just do my very best to avoid that *bleeping* shop. That place truely takes back to my old self in a real hurry.

*edit* just got off the phone with Outbound. I am already set up on my homebound load and have my return date set. It's still Feb, but I know what I am doing thru the 16th of March...now if only my building plans go that smooth I'll be happy(happier I mean)

En-route to UP North Wednesday Outbound called. All I was offered for Thursday were broker loads, like six of them. At first I was a little surprised, but then remembered it is Feb. and most of what ships from Up north is not in season. None of the loads were all that good except the last one offered... Cannon Falls,MN to San Antonio,Tx. Yep, that's the one I took. 2700+ miles for the week and another weekend at home.

SS, glad this job has helped you with an attitude adjustment. The shop is a sore spot with all of us, but the paycheck (even when having to skip a few due to inability to get paperwork in),the attitude of respect from dispatch and supervisors, not being micro-managed, and the long trip average that helps generate miles (thus $$$), certainly makes up for what the shop lacks. Glad you are doing well.

Greetings fellas, where is poly out of? Is weekend home time required or can I be a road dog and take a week or 2 off after a few months?

Do the trucks there have APU's, Inverters or Fridgerators?

I've got my application filled out and ready to fax - except for one thing. When it asks for me to list any accidents I've been in, how far back in time do I have to go?

My last accident was over 10 years ago and it didn't even involve another car. It happened in my driveway. I was bringing my boxer 8 week old Boxer puppy over to a friend's house and the pup distracted me just enough - I ended up swerving over about 3 feet and ended up running my BMW over a metal pole that was sticking about 2 feet out of the ground right next to the driveway.

I've never had a moving violation in my life, and have a perfect driving record in the truck while driving for Roehl over the past 2 and 1/2 years. I'm hoping and praying that that old accident doesn't disqualify me from working for Poly.

Hi Platinum. I'm in the process of applying at Poly myself, and what I would highly recommend is to read this whole monster of a thread. It will answer most of the questions you may have.

I could try to answer your question, but the guys who are already working there could probably give you a better explanation than I could.

Anyway, I LOVE your dog! Boxers rule! :D

Zangief, if it's not on your MVR there is no reason to report it.

Platinum, reading this thread will answer most, if not all, questions you may have, plus give you insight as to what you can expect working here. Poly is located in Grand Prairie. Trucks are refrigerator friendly & you can stay on the road as long as you like. For an application you must downloaded it from Poly-Trucking dot com.

    Zangief Thanks this.
