File this post under 'I love it when a plan comes together'(to quote Hanibal Smith of the A-team). I got my backhaul info. Pick up paper out of Jackson, AL going to Garland for Monday. Not a choice weekend, but I figure it would give me a running start to next week. So after I get done talking to the broker, I call outbound to get myself on Monday's board. When I got a suprising question from Outbound....'would you like to run Sunday?'...to which I replied if we can talk them into 900'g this load, sure thing....he said he'd message them that we need drivers on Sunday, and to authorize a 900 diff...15 minutes later, I got the authorization and a call back with a bunch of loads to choose from...I pick up Sunday deliver Monday in K/C... I only have one problem...this load that I am picking up is out in the woods. I have 4 bars of 4g...but can't make a phone call...only data....very odd. Especially when the broker gave me the wrong p/u number, and I had to call him. I ended up rolling back out by the mill where there wasn't any data signal, but had 2 bars of no-g cell signal and called out just fine...That's bad when you're so far out in the woods that the Verizon carrier pigeon doesn't even want to find you :biggrin_2551:

I'm on the GP yard for the night. Leave tomorrow with a three stopper to AL/GA. Could have taken several nice long runs but I need to be back in GP by Thursday so I can go home for some R&R that includes a 9 inning vacation. Astros vs Rangers in the Alamodome. It was a Christmas present from my wife. Except I'm not all that sure it was for me. She's a Rangers fan. Me, I'm an Astros fan, then the Rangers.

I think it's going to be one of those days. 1st thing, when my phone went off this a.m. some of my regular app's icons on the main screen were missing. When I went to the app drawer to move them back...I get to the main page and they're back. Then, try to get a head start on my k/c load, try to pick up my trailer and the service air line is broken right at the glad hand fitting and there isn't enough slack to put my spare fitting on to replace it, and the landing gear handle won't lock into the drive shaft of the landing gear gearbox, then the nut falls of the bolt of the handle and rolls off somewhere and the bolt falls out, so I'm left standing with a landing gear handle in my hand...then my phone starts ramdomly picking apps to start...some of the bloatware that I've never used..if there wasn't a wall back there I'd go back to bed and get up on the other side...I guess this is payback for all the times I haven't had everything go wrong. But, I'm still glad I work here!

I just had to push the "Thanks" button. Sometimes it's good to know I'm not the only one things like this happen to :biggrin_25525:

In up north with a 5 stopper to pa/va. My landing gear was frozen. No one there to fix it. So I had to have fleet net send someone out. So I just left asked them to call when it was fixed. about to go get it now. So nope your not alone. LoL

There were issues with several trailers yesterday. JD had to get a reload, another driver had to get his load swapped to another trailer because his right door wouldn't latch...even with a hammer helping. We must have had a bunch of shipments all at once and they are tapping into the 'troubled' stash of empties.

When ya'll run to K/C, which way do ya normally go? I usually go up 75/69 to 44 to 71. But with all the fun this a.m., I took the long way and stayed on the interstate. It is 45 miles further and $11 more in tolls...but so much easier than the 400 red lights on those US routes.

I've taken the interstate to KC before & paid the toll. Not an issue. It's less than 10%.

SS, glad the job move has worked for you. I too still love my job, even with the occasional equipment problems. $$$$ & respect go a long way.

I usually go through my house in Rogers,Ar. I just run up 69 to 40 and then over into Arkansas and up 540. No Tolls and not far enough out of route to be a problem. I've ran the way JD mentioned as well. However, if not running through the house I usually cut through the woods on 60. Go by the new Indigo Sky Casino which is nice. Several options through the woods and most are about the same on time and miles. Take care out there. :)
