I may never get to leave...1st the flatbed wasn't loaded because shipping hadn't moved a trailer to the loading pad...then, I'm pulling a spread axle, which legally can be 20k per trailer axle, but the gate wouldn't let me leave because it shows 34880...company policy says 34000 max. I got to Tony(who was sitting behind the glass) who goes to Pat who goes to Alan...and none of them have the authority to over ride the policy. The next person up the chain that does have the power...is out of town. So, they had to reload and push the rolls past the dunnage board all the way to the headache rack on the trailer...it took two tries to get it 'poly-legal'...so after 4.5 hours and 2 re-strap jobs...I am finally rolling. I will never make fun of flatbed drivers again...this is too much like work for a fat boy like me...![]()
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Never gonna pick a flatbed load.

OB never called this morning just left a message on the QC. Luckily I was loading stuff up this morning and got the message. Nearly a 400 mile dead head into Benton, TN to pick up a load of water going to Irving. Had just enough time to make it here about 10 minutes before my appointment but probably not going to matter as I remember coming here before with another company and it was a long wait. Oh well going to drop this at the yard tomorrow so I will be ready to roll early out of there on Friday instead of waiting to finish this load off noonish on Friday. US 74 in SW North Carolina is a peach of a road in places for a big truck

After 4 weeks out, my husband finally made it for some home time this morning, only to get a call that another driver in the area is out of hours and they needed someone else to complete the load...so he's napping and going back out in a few hours...
Well, hopefully our loan goes through and we can move to Texas and see each other more often!

He could have been home at any time during those 4 weeks if he had asked for it, but because we are in the process of buying a home in Texas, he's trying not to take any time off to make the pay look even better.
It's not the companies fault. They needed someone to cover and my husband is in the area, so they called. He didn't have to answer and he could have easily turned it down, but he just didn't want to. Poly has been good about getting whatever our lender needs from them for the mortgage, and after only being employed there a month, they are doing much more than we should even be asking! So we are very grateful to Poly. It's annoying and a pain in the butt that he has to go back out already, but it is what it is. I've got my fingers crossed that this loan goes through and we'll be in Texas in a few weeks and be able to see each other once a week!
LilRobWayne, Dinomite, jdrentzjr and 2 others Thank this. -
gjcarr03 Thanks this.

I agree. Part of the job is knowing how many hours you can work each day and planning accordingly. This guy was 5 hours away from the delivery, doesn't deliver till morning. It screws with my husband's hours, of course, but he'll figure it out.

The little woman told me that I got a call from Crete's recruiting today. Letting me know that they will be raising everyone's pay starting next month, and that they would love to have me back...I just stopped laughing a few minutes ago.
tucker, Bumper, LilRobWayne and 6 others Thank this.
