even reading this whole thread will not give u an idea of what u will really be dealing with when it comes to maintenance at poly, and u can avoid it only so long untill they shut ur truck down coming thru the gate, and their solution is to just move you into another truck and pass ur problems down to the next new guy, and for those applying have hope, by the looks of the banged up loaner trucks they hire just about anyone. needless to say the homeymoon is over.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Honestly, if things aren't working out for ya' here, I hear Crete is always looking for drivers...and they just gave a $.02 cpm fleet wide raise. It seems that most of us that have moved over here are happy and content with Poly.gjcarr03 Thanks this.

Nice vent! It sounds like one of my bad days here at Poly. You are correct about the thread not giving someone a full idea of a lot of truck issues. Not sure any thread could cover all of it. Now I already knew they would hire anyone. They hired you and I. I don't know you and I haven't banged up any of the trucks but I'm guessing YOU are just having another day like many of the rest of us have had. Hopefully you didn't think it was all peaches and cream. Anyone can get through a honeymoon. It's what you do next that matters. Nice to see something on here to "Keep it real". Hopefully things get better for you soon. Until then...just suck it up and deal the best you can. Now don't go and bang up any of those trucks because that'll just make it worse for YOU and the rest of us. Take care out there.

Sitting at the Wilmer Loves parked next to Poly truck 3478. Anyone here??
Mev Thanks this. -
I made it at Western Star Transportation** for 5 years, even when, before they hired me the management made sure I understood the majority of new hires didn't last 90 days .That's how harsh of a place it was.
As far as equipment goes, my last brand new truck ( a Paccar powered T660 averaged 4 days a month in the shop.)
I'm going to try to chase down a Poly driver on the road if I can and gather some data.

Unfortunately, for me it is a big difference. I started out driving on paper logs, I didn't much like it (I always made mistakes) , but when I had to go e-logs I came to love it. I just don't want to go back.

Got a call from outbound for my Monday load out of UPN already. Once I deliver in Bloomington, I go to UPN and then down to N. Vernon for Wednesday. Cannot complain. Except...this a.m. I was coming back from my shower at the Hutchins Love's and noticed a low tire, only to find a nail in a drive tire. Now, I coulda waited until I was out on the road and call for road service...or blow my bobtail pass and come back to GP and get it fixed here...so I did the 'company' thing and came back.

From talking to my husband and from reading on this thread; No, Poly is not perfect. But it seems pretty close. The goods outweigh the bads. While I would love to have my husband home every night, this job is so much less stress than his previous job! He is a happier person, by far. It is a struggle sometimes to get the paperwork in in time, and when you have a family of 5 dependent on that one income, it makes it even tougher, but we're managing so far.
Just remember, the grass isn't always greener on the other side. There's going to be good and bad at EVERY company, no matter the field. But if you can find one that has more good than bad, which I believe Poly has, then you're golden!jdrentzjr, Son of a Trucker and LilRobWayne Thank this.
