just to clear things up its just my opinion and its already been said on here but the maintenance program at poly is the worst ive ever seen as far as management and communication, not just them fixing the trucks but just the overall confusion there when u try and find out whats goin on with ur truck. this all leads to your truck being down and taking a loaner which are also maintained by them, ive looked at loaners that wouldnt even make it off the yard.( no air press, out of service, etc) i have had minor issues if any at all in any other dept at poly.

I've done my share of loaner swapping...in my humble opinion, if you give me a choice of sitting on my butt waiting or taking a loaner and making some cash, I'll take the cash. It's not beneath me to put my crap in a tote, grab my duffle and my logbook and haul arse.

Doesn't make sense that they would allow this to go on.
    Its not logical
Most companies cycle trucks every 4 years and they don't run a fleet of beaters .
Oldest truck I've ever driven was traded in around 500K.
What's the mileage on the Poly trucks ?

Sounds like you are learning(lol). I firmly believe in time your luck with trucks will turn around. They still continue to make changes with the management of the shop. It still sucks on many things. I just keep hoping that it will improve. I've seen some minor improvements but they've got a long way to go. I'm also a firm believer that it'll never be what I would like it to be. I'm just continuing to learn to adjust some things. Think outside the box and beat them at some things from time to time. It really feels good sometimes. Breakdowns are what they are. However, some other down times can be managed. Figure out a system that works to help YOU and it'll be better. Good luck with it. Remember, none of us care for the shop and we're making it work. Just work with it. You'll find something that helps! :)

im not griping when im on here just passin along my experience, its for everyone else to decide if its for them, im not tryn to push anyone away just realize only posting the good can b decieving as well, also there is not much else to complain about, i have heard some guys complain about backhaul but ive yet to have a problem, some of the best loads ive had were backhauls, also i have a bit of ocd so when i have to move my stuff it throws me out of whack a little and i like things in order. i have thought about gettn a seperate tote with all of the things i need ready to go so i dont even have to pack
for a loaner, just have an extra set of stuf in it, emergency loaner tote lol

That would be my approach, as I'm very much like you when it comes to having to change trucks. Moving residences physically and emotionally depresses me....I don't do moving well, in spite of having done it nearly 30 times in 35 years. Throw in the frustration of an incompetent shop, and I'm liable to really go off on someone

No breakdown pay. You get to wait out the repairs for free or take a loaner. If you are really lucky you get to put up the money for a room and then get reimbursed. It's quite a wonderful perk of the job(sarcasm). It is why this topic grabs so much attention. I mean, anyone broke down should get compensated if they are stuck somewhere. However, it's like credit card reward points...if you're in the trucking business wanting to get by on breakdown pay then you have the wrong idea about trucking. I hear it all the time from drivers. They take a $40,000 a year job that pays $100 a day breakdown pay over a $70,000+ job that doesn't. Don't get me wrong, I would like to see people get paid but most are losing sight of the bigger picture. Either you can afford to sit it out or suck it up and run a loaner. I think I'll go charge $5000 on my credit card so I can get $100 in rewards points...LMAO! Got to weigh all the good with all the bad in order for the correct math to come out. Home time, pay, benefits and so on. At the end of the day I'm lazy because I hate moving my stuff from truck to truck. However, when it means hundreds or even thousands of dollars I'm on it. Bottom line...I spent more than my share of breakdown crap last year but I made more money and was home more than any other trucking job I've had. I'm to set in my ways and to old to do owner operation and the local stuff where I live is pathetic on pay and many other things. Everyone isn't in trucking for the same reasons so I'll get off my soap box on it. Just know if your looking to step up into a better position then take a long hard look at where you're at. You'll find that pound for pound Poly is on the higher end of company driving positions. Sorry if I sound company oriented when I type that but it is what it is. I'm about as far from that as one can get. However, I'm happy I came to Poly and wish I would've found them when I started trucking. They have their flaws and I'm not here to sell you anything for them. I've been around a few blocks as many of us have. It's not for everyone. NO DRIVING JOB IS. It is however very good for most and I know it compares ahead of several companies out here. I try not to knock anyone's position out there. I know nothing of others over all situations. Please take this post in a positive manner since that IS my intent. I don't know most of you that get on here. I do believe many of you have a lot of the same reasons as I do for being out here. Hopefully these words are a help to you and sorry if I bored some of you. I'm still Glad I came to Poly. I don't live for it because if I could afford to not truck I'd probably be out tomorrow. Good luck to all of you looking for work and thanks to all for your Posts and reading of this thread. Take care out there. :)
