30 mins for a d/h is reasonable, by the time you check in, drop, hook, DO A PRE-TRIP, etc....it's reasonable.
I myself have nothing to hide. Some drivers are lazy...some don't want to work as hard. I could work harder than I do, but at 53, I don't care to any longer and really have no need to.
I've been out about 33 days. Today is the first day I've been off, as I'm waiting in KC for service, so I've been running off recap for weeks. Is 2900 miles slammin'? No, probably not. But at .46 a mile, it's not bad. I get hassled very little....about the only thing I fight with them about is running me on the OH/PA routine. My average miles at Schneider was 2400 on a seven-day week. Here at Crete, it's probably close to 2900 to 3000. I'll take it.
And what constitutes micro-managing? Some argue dictating fuel stops is. I say BS. The company has knowledge as to the best buys for fuel. It's their truck, their money. Some drivers just can't stand to be told anything because they consider it an affront to their intelligence. Poly doesn't allow brooms on the back of their tractors. If this were a Crete rule, some here would ##### and moan that that was micro-managing. But at Poly, it's all fine and dandy.
I've also spoken to several Poly drivers on the road, and have heard far, far less glowing reviews than those you read here. So believe what you will....we are all just words on a screen.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

Does Poly use the EZ Pass ?
Or are the drivers required to use cash and turn in the receipts to balance the books ? -

I agree that .5 hours is a reasonable amount of time to log for a d/h. Poly wants to see that on the Logs as well. DOT also likes to see it.
You are most definitely running pretty good miles for Crete. You would be hard pressed to run anymore than what you listed even if you wanted to run harder. We both know they got to give you the loads to run miles and if we're both being honest we both know they start holding back when your miles get so high. Keeps you from drawing attention from DOT about why your miles are so high and so on. Now throw in the last point you kind of mentioned. It's called Forced dispatch so you run where they tell you for the most part. No need to mention more on this since we both know what forced dispatch means. You do sometimes get a small choice of loads but it's rare anymore.
I'm not crazy about diving into the whole fuel process by Crete. However, I will mention a couple of things you didn't. Crete does some homework on the fuel solution they give you but it is mostly limited to Price as you should know. It also limits your route choice for the load. I know you can request a route change and fuel solution but come on...really? Now throw in some of the micro managed parts like only get 50 gallons here at this tiny piece of crap fuel stop you really have no business going into so we save a penny a gallon. Forget it might take you an hour just to get in and out of this place as we both know happens quite often. Then stop again over here to fill up at another crap stop. They don't pay you to fuel and they are eating up a lot of your available driving time and so on. So as you can see...there is a lot more to it depending on how you look at it and what you choose to report. At the end of the day it just bothers some people. Others don't let it bother them. Some take it as micro managing and so on.
I've never had the desire to carry my broom on the back of any truck. I'm probably to picky about the crap from outside that might gather on it. Anyways, I don't recall anyone posting that it was fine and dandy to be told what to do with it at Poly. There are plenty of ridiculous rules that drivers don't care for here at Poly as well. Maybe we don't mention them enough on here for you to know it.
I respect your comments to believe what you want about Poly. I mean you're going to anyway so there's that. I like to think you get more insight here from us about Poly than some driver you talk to for a few minutes at a truck stop but WHATEVER! It's not all GLOWING on here as you mention. I'm guessing it might sound that way since many times we mention we are somewhat happy here. That just kills people to hear that crap. Let's just all be miserable so it makes others feel better about what they do for a living. Ok...there's more words on the screen for you to digest. I've worked at Crete as I've mentioned several times. IMO it's not nearly as good for me as Poly is. That doesn't mean it's a bad place to work. It just doesn't measure up for me. Maybe if you ever worked for Poly then you'd better know how it stacks up for you. I've always enjoyed reading your Posts and I respect your thoughts. I did kind of take your last few words negatively but it's all good. Nice to have some perspective from all sides on this thread. As always, take care out there. -
Enjoy the good times there while you can...in a few years, you'll be like I was getting 9000 miles a month if your lucky.
As far as the Poly drivers you talked to on the road that weren't happy...there are some, especially the ones that have been here quite a while...mainly because they haven't had deal with the majority of companies out there in what the trucking industry has become to see how much better they have it at Poly. They're comparing what they have now to what Poly use to be. Much like many did at Crete. In fact, a group left to lease trucks from Schneider thinking their John Deere would be mowing greener pastures...within a few months several were asking to return to Poly.Rattlebunny, LilRobWayne, jdrentzjr and 2 others Thank this. -
