I am about there myself...and I haven't had the breakdowns you've had. I spent the night in northern IL before delivering in Rockford. At 2100, I ran the truck it's full 1.5 hrs to put a full charge on it. At midnite-30 I woke up to the warning beeper telling me it was going to start shutting down stuff because the batteries were low. Although it had only dropped into the low 80's, I was only using the blower on #2 and the thermostat was at 1/2, it still sucked the batteries down that far...Now I'm picking up dog food in IA again, but headed for south TX for Monday. Good miles, but I'm gona stop complaining about going up in the northeast...up there it was cool enough at night you didn't need anything.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

I love running up there myself it's just the whole getting through MA, CT NY to get there that I don't like. Other than that, it's awesome lol. They don't call it Vacationland for nothing.
