If anyone has a new 4g Android phone from Verizon...and I'm talking about new enough to be getting the KitKat update (4.4.2 is the version). Think twice about taking it...and consider voiding your warranty and rooting it. I took the update and am kicking myself. Seems the only app that is reliable is the FoxFi tether. The browsers, the phone, the app launcher all randomly sloooooooooow way down or lock up, and the new radio files screw with the cell signal bad. I regularly get a voicemail for a call that never made it to my phone, even though it had signal. Verizon may be sending me a Jellybean OS phone if this keeps up. I may end up going back to my S3 before it whizzes me off and I lose my temper and toss it in the river errrr ummm....I mean accidentally lose it.

S3's are easy to root and install custom rom's. They finally came up with a root exploit for these Note 3's...but have yet to unlock the bootloader so it is easy to install a custom rom. They are sideloading the roms right now...but it is only a matter of time before they come up with a way. They guy who found the way in is the same guy who found a way to hack into a ps3 (or ps4, not sure which) and promptly got into a legal battle with Sony over it. He had Note 3's rootable shortly after they came out, but hesitated putting it out there. The S5's were so tough to crack, the hacker community put up bounty money to the 1st person to reliably unlock one...

I know this is a Poly thread...but post's have been up and down lately since we're all so busy...had to find something to talk about besides....running hard, making money, running hard, making money.

...meanwhile, in a cave somewhere, Packard is trying to straighten out the curly cord that goes from the handset to the base of his turquoise dial phone....

And if you have a Note...and hate how bright the screen is at night. There is an app called night clock which is just a dim digital clock like the old l.e.d. alarm clocks...and it overrides the lock screen (if you use one) so when you power button from sleep mode, that's the 1st thing you see before you unlock. And FoxFi now works with most Kitkat phones...updates are ready for download.

How do you guys go about showering on the road ?

I am finding myself getting fuel at a Poly yard 95% of the time , my pilot and loves cards are out of the loop due to lack of use

According to orientation they frown on people ( and keep up with who's doing it ) who grab 50 gallons outside of a Poly in order to get a free shower .

    ****

running hard making money is probably boring the others too.

since my old job had neither it's really exciting to experience .

my first check was 40% bigger than my old jobs !

it can rev a person up :)

im sure the excitement will wear off soon

I try to exclusively use Love's. After 1000 gal. in a month(Platinum level), free showers and coffee the following month. I fuel at terminals when I can, but.... Any month that I don't have excessive home time I always get my 1000 gal. In fact, I will be topping off my tanks in Fernley on Monday and just squeak over the 1000 gal mark for the month, even with 7 days off. We have some drivers get to the Diamond level on the Love's card.

As for iPhone...yes they work, but on Verizon they aren't set up to do all that I want them to do...and before I was a truck driver I was a computer geek and know the history of Apple and Steve Jobs...and I refused to EVER do business with him (when he was alive) or his company...I refuse to worship at the alter of the All Mighty Steve and become an iSheep. If all the other phone makers went bankrupt and Apple was the only one left...I'd send smoke signals

I need to explore some different routes , in order to get some points

im in Gainesville , Mo ...getting loaded to go UPN .

give me an example of the route you would take .

my rand McNally is sending me through the sticks , it's going to be a while before I get on the big road , am I doing something wrong ?

i know it's hub miles and all but I don't want to abuse them going the wrong way to get back onto the big highway in order to make it easy on myself
