NO they do not. Let me say it again so there is no mistake.......NO THEY DO NOT CARE IF YOU IDLE....as long as you have a just reason for it. And a non functioning or poorly functioning APU is a just reason. QUIT WORRYING!
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

As long as you do your best to keep your mpg at 6 or over...idle the sucker...and if extreme temps cause you to drop your mpg's too low, they'll call ya' and ask what's going on. They know those POS ClimaCabs can't keep up. As long as you're doing your best to run as efficient as you can during the rough months...they understand. I had a bad couple weeks over the winter where I was in the 4's for mpg. When they called, I just said below 0 for days at a time with temp sensitive backhauls....fuel was cheaper than a freight claim, and that was the last I heard of it. This truck WON'T get over 6 mpg, and I almost never idle it. Today while doing a 34 in Clovis, I was in the mid 90's...and the autostart has started it twice. I know soon they'll be calling and trying to find out why...so I may be without it for a bit while they send it off to the dealer. I mentioned the issue to Tony when I was in the office a couple weeks ago, he said do your best and if it doesn't improve, it'll need to go to the shop. I am sure it needs an engine software upgrade because it has a cruise control issue that I have found on the internet that points to a much needed update...but I've gotten to like this truck, so I hope it isn't something that requires weeks to resolve.

JD, what kind of fuel mileage does your Maxxfarce get? I've talked to some of our drivers who say theirs suck for fuel mileage...while others claim they get better than the old ISX's
I did find out that this trucks fuel gauge is a little off compared to my previous truck. When I was going thru OKC, I chose not to stop for a splash of fuel so I could make Clovis. I was between 3/8 and 1/2. By the time I got to Clovis, I was waiting for the cough of the engine right before it runs out of fuel. In Clovis, before I started my 34, I put in 218 gallons.Last edited: Jul 20, 2014

The last 120,000 miles, I've been keeping track. In a Crete truck, with the Maxforce, I'm averaging 8.1 mpg.
thats using the mileage keeper app. -

I've tried lugging it, I've tried running it hard like an old Detroit. I have had 1 trip since I was assigned this truck that beat 6 mpg...most of the time 5.5...and even a few fill ups just around 5.
Maybe I need to not plug in this phone so often...not only am I sucking down tons of data...the drag on the charging system must be enormous. -
