I have a 2012 with the Maxxforce. I'm averaging 6.5 mpg. My fuel gauge is busted so I'm tracking it and also refueling every 1000 miles at most as I don't know what size tanks are on this truck. I tried looking, but the skirts obscure my view.

FYI: I know a lot of the GPS models will track your mpg. Mine (Rand 720) does too, but I use a free app on my phone called "mpgforfree".

Also, I deliver at SAMs here in Hattiesburg in the morning and then shoot down to Bogaloosa for a backhaul to Port Neches, TX

The Parachute load is definitely better than that Rifle, CO load. The one in Rifle tried to overload me and were pissed when I brought back their stuff when they put on 48K+. The Parachute load in and out usually under 30 minutes in my several times to that place. I think it is just unrefined baking soda we haul out of both.

We have twin 125's, so anything over 225 you start getting over that 90% usable volume. Unlike at Crete where some of their Internationals had 2 different size tanks. 100 on one side and 80 on the other.

I've been calc'g the fuel mileage with pen and paper and 5.5 seems to be a steady average.

They have a scale there. Just drive all the way on it and look in your mirrors for the gross weight, then drive off each set of axles to see the other weights.

I know this question was for JD and he sent you a response already. I just thought I might share some of my experience on the subject.

I get fairly close to the same miles with both the vehicles I've been assigned here. However, The older truck with the Cummins motor performed a little better. Most difference is when you haul loads through the hills. The MaxxForce uses more in the hills. My Cummins usually averaged between 6.3 and 6.8 MPG. My MaxxForce averages between 6.1 and 6.5 MPG. As I mentioned, on flat ground they are closer to the same averages. Hope that information was of some use to you and others reading. Take care out there. :)

Feel free to comment on any of my posts...the only reason I singled out JD is because I knew for sure he had a Maxxfarce...I thought Majestyk had one, but wasn't sure...

as for the Maxxfarce mpg...I have REALLY modified my driving style to try to get them up so I don't have to lose this truck for weeks while it goes to International to be "checked out". It has helped some by short shifting on the low side (shift b4 14-1500), once on the high side just a little over 1500, but don't down shift before 1000 on a hill. Between Amarillo and Salina, up the US routes for the most part, my LCD says 6.4. We shall see. I got a splash of fuel in Salina and will fill up in Sioux City... (I need the Love's points...and pump prices before the company discount was $.08/gal cheaper in Iowa)...just couldn't make it from Clovis to Carlsbad to Sioux City without stopping.
