Ahhhh farm life...my 1st stop is way out off the beaten path. Basically go to BFE, turn north, and if you get to the Canadian border, you went too far, turn around. Another one of those barely wide enough for a truck routes. And some of the road needs mowed...not the side of the road...the road. The shoulder had taken over the white line and was moving in

I've always done 30 minimum, unless it's just a few pallets

One of the most frustrating Outbound loads I had in a while...with a back haul, frustration is always a possibility, but outbounds, especially M&P's are usually trouble free. My 1st stop, the farm help was a little late, then it took a while to get 12 pallets off with the puller and their huge tractor. Then, my 2nd stop was 385 miles away, all on 2 lane US routes in Montana...which for trucks is a 60 mph state off the interstate. 1/2 way there, traffic jam due to a car vs. horse trailer accident where the car not only lost but was knocked off the road, and was upside down in the ditch. Cops, ambulance...but didn't see life flight. Then, just before the end of the Indian res, they decided to rebuild the whole road at once from the ground up...so, 20 or so miles of very rough and rutted gravel road. And then there was the cell service. I decided to call the guy and tell him I was running late, but all I could get was the "dialing........." screen. Out in the middle of nowhere, I get enough signal to get a voice mail beep...but not enough to call my voice mail. Once I get to the town where our fuel stop is, I call him...voice mail...over and over and over. I leave 2 messages because we left the option of unloading tomorrow open...so I hope he gets the messages because I pick up my back haul Monday. I've seen so much of the unproductive back roads of the world this week, I think I am taking the interstate routes between sw Montana and Mesquite. ..except the 180 miles from Pocatello and Green River...then it's I80 to I25 to I70 to Selina down I135 to I35 to the DFW area. It isn't over 10%, and after all, I am trying to get my mpg's up...interstates baby

And I have managed to use almost an entire 70 in 5 days. Haven't had a day under 10.5. I have enough to unload in the morning and get down to Rocker/Butte tomorrow where I'll wait for my 168th hour...then restart again this weekend.

Final stop called back. My delivery is a farm on the last road before you get to the Canadian border...in fact if you miss the turn, you're turning around at the U.S. customs facility's parking area. All for 3 pallets of grain ag-bags.

And I mis-remembered my back haul. I am not delivering in Mesquite, I'm headed to Garland.

Us people who live where the deer and pronghorns play expect no cell service, one of the reasons we live where we do.

And those state highway rebuilds, yep tear it down to the base, work during daylight hours, and you are on your own crossing the gravel.

unproductive, maybe, but so laid back and so much time to clear the head.

The farm he had me delivering to was 1 mile from Canada...and 8 miles off the paved highway...his directions were spot on, but passed me on his way to the farm and escorted me in . After unloading I got a scenic tour of the surrounding mountain peaks, many of which were in Canada, and local history, very very friendly and low key...but there was cell service on his farm...from Canada...boo-cooo bucks if you used it, but at least the Canadian tel-co warned you about it when your phone hit their tower.

I live in the country(or what you folks call the county), by no means a city slicker and I enjoy my laid back low key life, but 45 minutes from the closest thing remotely considered civilization is not what I desire. I mean, with the way I forget things...I'd spend all day just driving to and from the lumber yard picking up the forgotten items...I bet his place it really a scenic wonderland when the snow falls...in fact, some of the eastern faces of the mountain peaks still had snowcover, and the low areas enroute to his farm were in the upper 30's
