    Triumph ,

I'm working on new ways to avoid the Poly Grand Prairie scene my self .

I would suggest ( if you have the hours ) speaking with dispatch before you get there
about a load out of PGP , if that works contact Tony and let him know you're inbound and will need a loaner as soon as you drop your truck off.

Keep rolling if at all possible !
For heavens sake keep rolling ,
it's your one and only hope :bounce:

Getting trapped at PGP for any where from 1 to 4 days once maintenance has locked your truck down and being left with nowhere to go but to a break room full of drivers and their endless boo hooing is like being trapped in a mindless void just this side of hell.

Good luck and let us know how it plays out for you

You really don't need to contact Tony, except to maybe verify that there are loaners available...I think he updates the list on the break room desk daily...you just go in, pick up a list and start the Easter egg hunt.

I ended up with this week with 4737 miles and 3 paid stops...and this was after a 3100 mile week last week..which sounds impressive if not impossible, but it was all set up by a short week two weeks ago, and the carryover miles just kept snowballing. In total, in those 3 weeks I ran around 9400 miles, but it just sounds impressive to turn in 2 back to back big weeks. I am putting in yet another 34, and pick up my home bound load 1st thing in the morning. My delivery is Wednesday, 7 weeks and 1 day from when I left, and I will have totaled just over 21000 miles since leaving home. (I actually thought that I had run slightly more, but I ran the numbers last night). With this productive of a month, I have bumped my monthly average over 10k...even with my excessive home time stays. This was probably one of the most productive stretches in years...I am satisfied knowing I can still run like I did when I was young, but it did wear me down more than I expected...probably because after all those years at Crete, my body got out of the habit of enduring challengingly productive weeks back to back. Looking forward to home time, and getting back out here and trying it again.

I hope when folks read posts like I just sent this morning, they don't think I'm bragging or boasting...I'm not. I am just trying to show a run of good fortune and show how things can go when everything lines up and pretty much goes as perfectly as one could hope for. Just like everyone else in this business, I have experienced my share of rough times and missed opportunities that end up being one of those "hindsight is 20/20" moments where the words "what I should have done is....." end up being said. If you haven't had weeks or months like the one I just turned...have faith, keep pushing and trying...it will...I am living proof of a saying my dad use to use..."if you suck long enough, you're bound to succeed". Of all the crazy sayings he said, that one makes the most sense to me now.

Hey , let me ask you guys :

I got a backhaul pickup out in Parachute , Colorado a few weeks ago. ( at the Solvay plant )
First thing I ask the broker is , " do they have a scale " , since the nearest Cat scale is over 60 miles west of there on
I 70 , he say not to worry , they have a scale on site.

So I get loaded , and she scales out fine using their on site scale .
No we're near being close to going over.

Question is ,, is Poly going to write me up for using the onside scale and not going to the Cat Scale ?

I couldn't justify in my mind going over 120 miles out of route
just to use the Cat scale so I can have a legal receipt in case I
tangle wit the DOT along the way.

What do you think is going to happen over this issue ?

I use customer scales any time they're available...as long as you feel comfy with the accuracy (like they appear to be maintained and tested). If not, use a CAT. The secret is, get your axle weights as far away from the maximum legal limit just in case they are a little off.

    Mev and jdrentzjr Thank this.
