Last place I worked Speedco did all the PM work on the tractors and also kept the trailers lubed.
Minor stuff ( and I mean very minor stuff ) was done on the yard.
All of the heavier type of work was done at a dealer with factory trained techs.
I must say for the most part it worked out pretty good for everyone.
Owners trucks kept rolling , and the drivers kept on driving.

I miss Speedco , those cats rocked the situation and I was usually in and out in less than 2 hours.
No bolts or plugs left loose, you were there and witnessed the torquing process
and signed off on it .

Sounds like the shop needs a good house cleaning, starting at the top.

if a sinkhole opened up and swallowed the whole building, the only comment most drivers would have would be "good, now there will be more parking for empty trailers once they fill in the hole". I know that shop is a work in progress and they're trying to get it running right...but that doesn't excuse the loose and missing parts, or just plain negligence of the people turning wrenches...especially when it's our butts on the line if something they crawled under the truck to fix that goes wrong and causes an accident or citation...someplace we don't have access to on an inspection. Sometimes I think it's just an advertisement when they claim that everything is about safety...kinda like Crete's "There are no shortcuts" or Crete's "our greatest asset" ad trailers...

It would be great if they installed WiFi for the breakroom downstairs.
It would ease the pain of waiting 3 or 4 days for repairs.
I can easily disappear into cyber space for days with no problem
Its all in our heads anyways

Ahhhhh home. I was beginning to forget what it looked like. 7 days of piece(s of wood) and quiet (those times between the nail gun going off). A time to relax (the straps holding the tarps on the roof studs) and unwind (the extension cords and air hose)and enjoy some R & R (roofing and re-siding).

Let me, as a retired corporate CPA (aka bean counter) & Director level manager, tell you what I used to tell some of my favorite employees. I used to tell them "The next time you hear ANYONE say something along the lines of "our people are our most valuable asset", remember to ask yourself this question. "When is the last time a company laid off a copy machine, or CNC machine, etc... when things got a bit slow?"". ;)

As far as the shop goes, the type of issues they, reportedly, have are things that would not routinely happen if the had a proper management team in place.

Not sure about the shop mgmt.
But I do know one of the biggest problems is
the International trucks are flat out lemons.
Theres certainly not a lot of love for the shop
    amongst drivers.
    Break room stays pretty heated
most of the time with people
switching between hating on Poly and or the
    repair shop.
Lots of people leaving is what I'm hearing.
Don't know how true that is though.

Have to wait and see but I doubt seriously
    anythings going to give
    around this place.

Well a solid 1385 miles out the gate for the first two days back on the road. Delivering in the morning in Arlington and then picking up a load back to Poly West. So should have 2600 and change in four days and then taking a couple of days resetting back at the new digs in Vegas before heading out to Sumner. That moving trip across country with 2 women and a dog was a #####. Glad that I won't have to deal with that again for a while. Just found out that Carl was moving on to another job. Hope the new fellow works out well.

He is leaving to become head of purchasing for a major warehouse system in Texas
or something similar. He came down to say goodbye the other evening.
He was a really great guy to work with.
They apparently offered him nothing or even asked him to stay.
Have to see how things go from here.
