I've never had to wait for a backhaul more than a day outside TX. I have had a delivery in New Bruanfels and had to wait until late in the day for them to tell me to head to Pol-tex to pick up the next morning or a early delivery to Waller, but had set my pta for the next morning, so it was my fault for that delay.

I have been off 7 days building my butt of(on my addition). If they told me I had to wait another day, I would have been o.k. with it. I am way behind on this project because Mother Nature just won't quit whizzing on me every hour of so. This has been the wettest I have seen it down here. It's more than the usual afternoon cloud burst...I wake up to the sound of rain on the roof and then keep the radar app on my phone running all day so I can see it coming in time to re-tarp my roof.

I got a late day call from Backhaul(actually I got a voice mail saying 'why haven't you replied to the q-comm info about your back haul). I pick up in Jacksonville tomorrow, and deliver in Houston on Friday.

That isn't normal. Maybe there was some breakdown in them knowing your available time. Most Backhauls are tentatively set up ahead of time. Others are done on short notice when something falls through. Things like not knowing your available time or customer cancels from broker and so on. Over 80% of my Backhauls pick up shortly after I deliver. I usually know about my Backhaul before I even get my outbound load delivered. In times where that isn't the case I just give them a call and ask what's up. Never waited that long. I'm guessing something fell through somewhere. Looks like they got ya Rollin again. Take care out there! :)

Rolled back out after a nice two days at home. Delivering in Sumner early Thursday morning with a tentative back haul picking up in Sunnyside, WA going to Shreveport. Going to try and get a rollback from there or a quick backhaul so I can knock out my physical and catch another load back to Poly West. My rugrats are coming to visit from NYC so looking forward to spending another long break with them in Sin City.

Poly is strange it that it's so laid back,it takes getting used to.
I'm on my first real home time since I been there ,
don't have to go back till Monday. :)

Back to the grind... (or in my case, back to this easy job compared to my honey-do job). Picked up in Jacksonville, FL headed for Houston. Broker was showing this as a team load, which is odd because I have had this load many times, and have always delivered right on time. Picked up at 13:00 on Wednesday, delivers 9:00 on Friday...not sure why a team would have to be needed...unless the team of me, myself and I warped the space/time continuum...I didn't even run that hard and I am here on Thursday afternoon.

Truck still has a few 'after service' issues. But I think I figured out the lack of power problem that appeared after the service...and I am sorry to say that it may not be the shop's fault, but just an unfortunate coincidence. I think either the waste gate, it's controller or a boost sensor is to blame. I felt it buck (and what would sound like a backfire in the intake if it were a gas engine), then it started running like normal...or as normal as a Maxxforce runs. I think when I hear the 'backfire' noise, it's actually the waste gate popping off. Time will tell, until it dies, or gets un-driveable, I'll keep it out of our version of the twilight zone.

It is with great sadness, yet excitement, that I write this post. Tomorrow will be my last day as a company driver here at Poly-Trucking. I have purchased a 2013 Fitzgerald Glider. The price was to good to pass up.

Almost a year ago my wife made the comment that she wanted to be able to ride with me. At first she said full time, but cooler heads prevailed and she realized that probably wasn't a good idea. However she would like to ride with me from time to time and so would I.

Well I certainly was not going to jump to another company job just so she could ride from time to time. So I began to contemplate going back to being an owner operator. But, the circumstances had to be right. I could not afford a downpayment on a new Fitzgerald Glider, and didn't want someone elses problems with an older pre-EGR truck. So I figured a used Fitzgerald Glider about four to five years old would suit me (hard to find). Then there was the question of who to lease the truck too when, and if, I found what I was looking for. I began to pray.

I asked God that if becoming an O/O again is what I should pursue to provide the finances or a favorable opportunity. The first of July a friend who is leased to Landstar read an article on Overdrive dot com about a man diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer. He bought a 2013 Fitzgerald Glider a little over a year ago and was wanting to sell it for only what he owed the lending institution ($87k). I told my wife, talked to my pastor and decided it could very well be the opportunity. So I sent David an email. He said there were several others interested but would let me know if they didn't pan out. A week later he contacted me.

I figured that the lending institute didn't want the truck and with my credit score (almost 800, bragging (-;) I would probably just have the loan refinanced into my name. And that is what happened.

As for who to lease it too. That was easy enough. David was already a BCO at Landstar and the truck is already in their system and is already equiped with an ELD (Electronic Logging Device) that is required of all new BCOs. So I start orientation Monday at Landstar.

If you want to see a picture of the truck..... http://www.overdriveonline.com/?s=david+adkins

Best of luck with your new adventure. I wasn't too fond of my experiences with Landstar, but I was with them when the economy was starting on the downward slide into recession, so that had a lot to do with it. The last anyone heard from Redbeard he seem to be doing much better there than at Crete. Here's to your success :occasion5:...thanks again for all the help and advice over here...if you see me out here somewhere, say hi, I promise I won't talk your ear off like I usually to do
