for those reading along here i would suggest reading lilrobwayne's posts, i think he has some posts that sum it up the best what its like here at poly, as for those who just ask about miles it depends on the loads u choos and how much time u take off, i dont like posting miles cuz i prob take more time off than others but i cant complain about the overall job and money i make, if u read the whole thread u can get a good idea what its like, ive said it before and i will say it again, if i left here it would be buy a truck or go back to somthin regional or local but i would no way in hell leave here to go to one of the those carriers that weve all heard of, if anyone can tell me a better place to be a company otr van driver im all ears.

    LilRobWayne Thanks this.

There must be. I've called and left message. I understand if they are having a problem getting a backhaul, but at least send me a message or call back. Not communicating with the driver isn't the way to handle it.[/QUOTE] if youv called an left a msg amd that havnt called back it means no load yet

I agree with bigcat, not responding is NOT the way to handle it. If the driver asks, then even a short "no loads yet" should be given. It's not too much to ask for.

If you are just getting 2K miles a week then you are either one unlucky SOB or you really need to work on your trip planning given the hours you have available. If I don't knock out 3K+ miles in a 7 day period something has to usually go pretty badly. I think in terms of how many hours do I have left to work with, say if it is 40 over the next four days I am going to select a 950-1000 mile trip (think Bloomington or a GA run), if I have 44 or so I am thinking Brownstown which will get me there and back to GP for something else. If I have ran hard for 7 days and only have a few hours left for day 8 I look for something like that 800 mile 2 day trip to Loveland. Doing this you should be able to maximize your time out here, either bust ### and reset after 7 days or learn to maximize on your recaps.

Got the call from backhaul. Heading up to Clinton, TN for a tomorrow afternoon pick up. Heading to Ennis, TX for Friday morning. Already put myself on Fridays board. So far, so good with this loaner. My truck is fixed down in Houston. Now it needs to get back to GP so I can get the APU worked on.

I'm plugging away at it , the longest load I've ever been offered was to Cheyenne out of PGP

    I'm not complaining when I say 2k ,

For Example: right now now I'm chiseling away at 4 dispatched pre plans that final out Monday
and the total miles for all of them is approx 1600 miles.

maybe it's my destiny or my energy balance in the universe that makes it this way.

    who knows

Hey thanks for the mention. I feel a lot the same way as you on many of the things you mentioned on this post. I've mentioned miles a time or two but don't post much on it. I like to take advantage of my home time as well. I still get plenty of miles due to continuing to learn the loads here and when to make myself available for this or that. I feel it IS something we all get better at the longer we work here. Anyways, just wanted to type a line or two back at ya. Thanks again for the mention and take care out there.

Things must be slowing down a bit out of GP. I put myself on Saturday's board. They're already dispatching them today. Had a choice of a Henderson, a UPN, OH, MN, WI, IA. I am headed to Henderson with a transfer...then have myself on Monday's Henderson board. He said there is a good chance of a load to WA...which would be nice to see w/o snow on the ground.

It was a bad day to be going east on I-20. In eastern TX, R&L rolled a set of doubles and traffic was backed up for miles, and over in MS, just east of the scales at the LA line, a truck went off roading and caught fire...all that was left of the truck was frame and wheels, and the trailer was mostly gone from the landing gear forward. It was a reefer trailer, not sure if his reefer caught fire and he had to pop the chute or if he crashed and caught fire and burned the trailer down. But traffic was almost backed up to the parking area. And, just 40 miles from the 635 jct. here in TX, a Poly was getting hooked up to a wrecker...

i was by GP today , did a drop and hook
    and turned in some paperwork.
Place was a ghost town as far as poly drivers.
    All activity was outside carriers.
Just as I complete a drop they phone me and put
another load on me , I'm still under 3 loads.
I'm digging this keeping busy thing.

6 a.m. on Friday morning and the Streakin' Beacon here in Dallas was lined up all the way beyond the curve in the drive. I thought I'd sneak in before it got busy...huh ha
