Like it was mentioned, we won't even have e-logs until the government forces us to activate them. I doubt we'd ever get cameras in the trucks unless it was also mandated by the feds. I had a dash cam app on my old S3 that I used, but after 3 days I got nothing but static on the display so I deleted it. Forward facing cameras are a 2 edged sword...if the driver is ever involved in a crash, that evidence is confiscated and reviewed by law enforcement before anyone's lawyer has a chance to review it. In fact, when I was at Crete they forbid any dashcams to be installed by the driver. Only cameras allowed were the few trucks they had that they were testing that were factory-installed. But there are many customers that forbid the use of ANY recording or photographic devices, so installing any cameras would jeopardize our opportunity to haul their freight, so I doubt we ever see them.

You're doing more than me right now. After that last brew-ha-ha with the shop, and the problems that my truck has developed after that shop visit...I have lost that "mileage killer" instinct...in fact, next home time I clear out most of my extra crap, keep the essential stuff that can easily be moved and start running the minimum miles needed to pay my bills. They have broken my spirit, in fact, I have my feelers out for -believe it or not- a local/regional gig. If the right opportunity comes along, after 21 years of this, I'd give up OTR in a second. I really never thought those words would ever come out of my mouth (or thru my fingers in this case) but I'm tired of the constant fight out here. My wife has gotten things straightened out in her job, and now is the Co-manager of her Farmers Market, and the other Co-manager has a bid on a different position with the city, and no other competitive bids are in for for that other position, so it looks like she will get it leaving my wife as the full time manager...so I don't have to kill myself out here for us to survive anymore. If a gas hauling or decent paying regional delivery job came up...I'd fly the friendly skies back home.

Has anyone ever picked up in Aberdeen, WA. And it figures, been out here 8-10 times in the last year, always head back to GP. Now, when I need to get back there for truck issues, I get the West Coast spin cycle. Aberdeen, WA to Henderson.

WOW. Someone needs to forward this to TPTB at Poly. I hate seeing a good company turn to crap through their own refusal to fix significant issues. :biggrin_2553:

The equipment issues/policies prevalent on this thread have kept many of us from applying to Poly. I am not much of a gear head and I knew that would make me a poor fit. A real shame they will not correct this glaring problem.

The 2 things I have a hard time accepting from responsible adults in this industry are stupidity and incompetence....I can accept ignorance (the difference between ignorance and stupidity is, ignorance means you don't know better, stupidity is where you know better but do what ever it is any way). When a so-called maintenance facility continually has the same issue over and over...it is either incompetence or stupidity that allows it to continue year after year. How long before they forget to tighten something or misdiagnose a problem that results in some major accident or results in a fatality. I guess they think it is a game in the shop...playing repairman, collecting their pay check and laughing about it when they're home. Meanwhile the drivers and the operations department have to cover loads and work overtime to keep the customers needs met...I for one would love to see that shop closed and everyone in it reassigned to the production facility...that way they quit, and no unemployment has to be paid.

I don't mean to be be funny but we need a support group when in comes to that shop , a Poly provided mental health worker available 24/7 to council us drivers back to sanity or have us committed if need be.
It was so frustrating last time I was there I actually logged onto the web and started searching for the best rate on a one way airplane ride home, I almost said screw it , and bailed out on Poly .
( to boot , once I did get clear of the shop , the repairs held for less than 24 hours )...:biggrin_2552:

    What a world ,

    ........ what a world .

I wonder what was Cretes attitude towards truck repairs ?

Anyone familiar with them .... was it a comedy also ?

Crete...2-3 days wait for an A or B service. Repairs are about as reliable, but...they pay breakdown time after 12 hours (I think it's 12 hrs) and pay breakdown immediately if the truck goes back in for the same repair again. The down side, they don't have loaners like Poly, probably because unlike Poly, they're an irregular route trucking company and it may take months to get you back to where your original truck is, where we are a boomerang delivery company. (Out and back)(every time I type that I hear the silly song "my boomerang won't come back' in my head). What would ease my attitude some would be if Poly would pay breakdown for all repair time when you're away from GP. Drivers would probably get things fixed more often and keep truck productive. The way it is now, keep pushing it until it dies or gets back to GP since on road repairs now are a crap shoot. If it's something major, and you're on the road, a dealer may get you fixed and on the road, or, like againstthewind and JD experienced, weeks before repair and they had to provide their own transportation home until repairs were complete. At least when bigcats trucks died, he was close enough to catch another Poly truck to the yard where he could get rolling again.
