I am more thinking about my paycheck, or lack there of, if I do it on the road...I stopped thinking about their bottom line after my 7th or 8th loaner had more things wrong with it than right when I wrote it up and turned it in...I am looking out for number 1 (and no, not the Crete number 1). If what takes care of me takes care of Poly too...then it's purely coincidence. I bet "The Three Stooges and the Wrecking Crew" (that sounds like a classic rock band) couldn't afford it if say...there was a storm that knocked out power for a week, or God answered a prayer and a tornado just happened to wipe the shop building off the face of the earth (without touching any other building)and they got a $0 paycheck for a week or two...but if our truck breaks down away from GP...that is exactly what we get...unless we ride back with another Poly, or fork out travel money to move ourselves back to a loaner, then hitch back to our regular truck when it is finally done

The tenor of this thread sure has changed over the last month or so. Who gets the new trucks? They do buy new don't they?

We get new. They just got a bunch of the DEF Cummins powered ones in earlier this year. And you need to be here around a year, be productive, and have an older truck...and I am sure there are other criteria they consider...JD got a new one fairly quickly...but there are current drivers that have been here a while who passed on a new one the last time when they saw the Maxxfarce logo on the hood. The problem is, all this years DEF Cummins Prostars are way heavier compared to previous Prostars, and we haul heavy loads much of the time. So now they have a group of single drive with tag axle trucks they're testing...which is a joke given the areas of the country we travel on a regular basis. What they're saving in weight and fuel mileage, they'll spend in tow bills. CFI/Conway tried them, and are now going back to dual drive axles.

Yeah, I started with Conway Truckload and they even had the tags paired with super singles. Fortunately I had an old T 600 with a cat and no tag cause they ran me all over Canada all winter.

Sooner or later companies will learn winter conditions and tag axles do not mix. Hopefully, they only test them and do not integrate them in the fleet. SEC is testing them as well. Rumor has it that they are supposed to be a pro star fleet in three years as the leases of the freightliners start to expire then.

I agree...I've talked to Conway drivers who have been stuck on uneven fuel islands. A mix of slick diesel and 1 drive axle isn't fun...I could only imagine what it would be like running up/down Cabbage or Snoqualmie in the winter with only 1 axle putting power to the ground

Yea, Crete was 'A' at 20k, 'B' at 40k...and never had oil filter plugging issues on their Cummins Prostars. As an O/O, 13 years ago with older type oil I did 15-20k oil changes, depending on when it started using oil...with the new 'EGR and DPF' approved oils, 20-30k isn't harmful...especially with the Prostars equipped with the oil centrifuge.

i will be coming up on a yr and ive been in the same truck a 2010 with cummins, ive had a few issues but have only been in 1 loaner, was waiting to update when i hit a yr as i kno how things can always take a turn for the worse, overall i still like it here. if im correct i think my truck is one with higher mileage 375k, we have gotten rid of the 700k mile trks, it seems to me that most of the problems are with the loaners or new trucks so i have stuck with mine the best i could but i have talked with other drivers who have had many issues so i guess its luck of the draw but overall i been lucky compared to some. i told myself when i started i would give it a yr and see what i make and how much downtime and hometime ive had and how hard i feel like ive worked and go from there
