Was planning on rolling a little slowly and taking a Thursday OB trip but OB called Tuesday on my way to GP and asked if I could do a Wednesday load leaving to Brownstown, MI. So took it and been burning rubber the last two days. Sitting in Ft. Wayne until the wee hours to finish out in the morning. Got a backhaul out of Dayton back to GP so all in all looks to be another 4K+ week with another reset in GP which is not all bad this time as I will be due for my PM when I get back there. Heading home for Halloween after that. Should have in the neighborhood of 14300 miles in October for 25 driving days which is pretty #### strong

Saw one of the worse wrecks of a big truck that I have witnessed today on I-70 in eastern, IL. Cab was unrecognizable and looked like it and the box trailer had suffered a tremendous fire. Doubt anyone made it out of that alive. Edit: The driver made it out alive but the passenger wasn't so lucky.

 

Just read in the truckers news that Knight bought Barr-Nunn...soon there will be only a few mega carriers out here.

Pilot/Flying J now give free showers for the remainder of month and the following month that you get 500 of fuel and extended single credits to 10 days. I seem to end up at love's on most of the routes.

 

I got my back haul picked up today, got my next back haul set up...Siloam Springs, AR to Tyler, TX for Tuesday. My current broker called and asked if it were possible to deliver in OK Sunday night instead of Monday early morning...works for me. Was trying to push to Cheyenne tonight...then....Elk Mountain gets me in a different way...Bambi, or 2 bambis to be precise, decide to jaywalk across in front of me...I take evasive action and try to split the gap between...deer 1 escapes (probably pooping the whole way), deer 2 hits her brakes, slips, falls and just tags my left front bumper, left side skirt, and hits the lower step of my tool box bending it back a few inches. Inspection of my truck reveals....no real damage, just deer fur on my bumper, fur on 1 lug nut on my left front wheel, fur on my side skirt, a bent tool box step, with a little fur there too...all in all dang lucky. However, I do believe that the deer and I were saying the same thing....it starts with 'oh' and ends with 'it'. Because of the bent step, I did the right thing and msg'd Pat...he had me take pictures, call Fleetnet and they had to get me in the Pilot shop in Laramie to make sure no other damage was done underneath the truck...all is well...too bad it was too late to bet some money on the lottery...strike while the luck iron is still hot.

 

Anybody know of anywhere close to park for dlv in mount pleasant Iowa. Thanks in advance
