"I also have a serious question, not just for our Poly-wogs. Since Poly doesn't provide or offer life insurance, where is a reliable, but not too expensive to get 250k or so of life insurance at a decent price?"

I hear these commercials about "Big Lou" alot on Sirius. I think the website is termprovider. Perhaps check those cats out.

Can't help you our on the Ottawa pickup although that Ballinger does ring a bell from somewhere.

The old Chisum Truck Stop in Roswell, NM has there free wifi up and running now if you happen to be in the area. One of my favorite stops to park way in the back and fire up the old grill. Password is "truckerwifi".

I just left GP for Miami. :) parked in Biloxi for the night. Tomorrow I think I will just stay on 10 over to 295 to 95.... just don't feel like dealing with hwy27......

Last week I turned in 4300 for 9 days. Drivers that were in the break room freaked out on me a little. LOL a few were complaining and something came up about only way to make money is to use a "liebook" I laughed as I was just finishing my payroll and said oh really here is out and back and no lie or cheating on my log and 4300+ miles..... the place got silent And they all asked like 4 times for me to repeat myself. LOL Tried to tell me that's not possible. .....

4300 in 9 days, hell that is just a real solid 7 days if you hit it right:) I just don't see folks not being able to get miles here. If I can't hit 3K+ in 7 days it has to be a real horrible week.

I agree, the only time I don't make money here is when my truck is on one of it's cycles where it's breaking down repeatedly, or I got lazy and didn't feel like running hard. I will be pushing mid-12's myself this month. I turned in a 4600 in 10 days on last weeks paycheck, a 2400 mile week for this weeks check, and I'm on a 2700+ in a little over 5 days for next weeks check. Once I get the official delivery appointment, I am putting myself on the board for a short run before heading home for a week next week.

4300 in 9 days is totally doable...that is less than 500 a day which fits the 8.75 hours a day average perfectly.

Im still trying to figure the system as far as what locations I want to run and still earn what I need/want. I know alot of random things can happen to slow you down but so far I am pretty darn happy.

My last 5 days I did 2936 miles , woke up on the 6th day delivered and now im at the house taking a week off.So far my worst trip was 1672 miles for 5 days but I still brought home over $900 with drops pays ect...
Now I am not getting insurance yet but still to have a bad week and have a decent check is pretty nice.

What I'm doing from now on is going to be a direct logbook to miles driven calculation.

Example:in the last 3 'days' running around Texas I racked up a total of 874 miles , but wait I didn't use 3 whole days to go that distance ..... It was accomplished in exactly 17 hours .

    So that's an 874/17 ratio.

Im finding days are not relevant , hours are .

    just a thought

I just got a call asking why I stayed somewhere for 2 days under a load. I told them because that pilot in no. Lima ohio has a bar right next door and championship football was goin on lol.
Naaaa I said the mom n pops weren't open on the weekend so I had to wait somewhere. Driver supervisor said ok thats all I needed to know. I'm thinking they were curious of why I filled up at a secondary fuel stop or why my mpg sucks.
Shop wouldn't let me get my apu worked on over the road so I guess ill be getting a loaner next time I am in gp.

The customer in Ottawa, OH is Silgan Plastic. I am picking up empty plastic bottles going to a place that makes Miracle Grow. Should be an easy run. Other than the rough roads in Michigan, the Brownstown load they offer is a cake run. I guess we also pick up in Bucyrus, OH going to Waco. Either way 27-2800 miles in under 5 full days..I guess the old saying isn't true...I can have my cake (run) amd eat it too.

Army...you were probably accurate as to the reason they called. Either the fuel mileage was bad or they were going to give you some pointers as to improving the timing. Once they heard your explanation, they realized there wasn't anything that could have changed to make it any better.
