Congrats on the addition. I picked up last week in Ocala...it's a small place, didn't realize they shipped that much.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

I forgot how skiddish these Maxxfarce powered trucks are on the front end. Coming up US-31 to Manistee out of Grand Rapids all was o.k. weather wise until I got north of Muskegon...then the blowing snow started. Almost to Ludington it started some lake effect crap. Once I was on the 2-lane part north of Ludington, it cleared some until I was just outside Manistee, then it was a full out blizzard. Easing (with 44,200 lbs) thru town, I came upon a left hand curve...the truck wasn't sure it wanted to turn and argued with me about turning...I won before the snow bank...then trying to turn, uphill on the truck route into the industrial park, it argued again...I made it, with as few people p.o.'d as possible and got unloaded. Now I sit here empty...it's snowing and blowing like a mo fo...and not a peep out of backhaul yet. Good thing too...until I see more than 10 feet in front of me...I am staying put.
*update....ever have one of those days when the weather has you asking "what was I f'g thinking". This is what I saw as I was being unloaded...and it got worse:
I got the call from backhaul. I pick up in Howell, MI going to Ft. Worth for Friday. This storm dumped a quick 3 or 4 inches on my area while I was waiting to be unloaded and waiting on back haul. I checked the radar and it showed that the bulk of the snow was moving south and east. I waited about 45 minutes after it quit, then rolled east. Big freekin' mistake. The roads were a total mess, I was empty in a truck with super singles and a trailer with duals, and roads that, in some places, looked like it hadn't been touched. A 200 mile trip took me 4.75 hours, and I am still 15 miles away because they stop shipping at 3pm. I can't count the times I said the phrase..."what am I doing out here, and what was I thinking" . But, I made it...although I need some Preparation H, with muscle relaxing ingredients...I puckerd and gripped the seat so hard so often, I think I gave my hemorrhoids a herniaLast edited: Feb 24, 2015

Made my way across the frozen bridges in east Texas last night to deliver in Hattiesburg this morning. Picked up one of the quickest loads I have ever gotten in Fayette, AL. Backed into the dock and I was signing my papers and heading down the road in about 10 minutes with some tile for a d/h in Sunnyvale, TX tomorrow. Hoping to get a call with a decent load for Thursday after these last two snow/ice runs.

I got my backhaul today, picks up in garden city Georgia tomorrow morning. Has 2 drops in Indiana one drop in Iowa and the last in Minnesota. I'm good with the load but it sucks not being able to turn in paper work or get out of this loaner. I should have brought more cold weather clothes and pallet chains but I thought for sure I would be going back to texas. Oh well lesson learned, just got to make things work and get back to poly gp.

ArmyGuy Thanks this.

Note to self and others "dropping" a tile load in Sunnyvale, you have to be at the plant at least 4 hours before your scheduled appt. to be allowed to drop and hook otherwise you will be a live unload. Not a big deal today as I had time and unfortunately didn't receive an OB trip for tomorrow. I did speak with shipping about the possibility that some Friday loads would be ready tomorrow and he seemed to think so as they were running ahead. So perhaps I will snag an early Friday load and get on down the road with it and do a reset somewhere along the way instead of here in Dallas. Sitting at about 10,500 miles for February which isn't too shabby with the first 3 days of the month off. Need to get 119 gallons for my Diamond status at Loves and knocked out the Pilot 500 gallons already so burning up the diesel this month

Snagged a Kissimmee, FL (Lowes) run for tomorrow. First time doing this one. Planning on pulling up in Ocala but if any of you guys have a secret spot to park in near the DC I will roll on into the area on Saturday night.

I got my next outbound set up. Pick up Saturday going back to University Park for Monday. He had a decent list, but it was 4pm on Thursday. Lots of 4 and 5 stoppers to anywhere from UT to NY and NJ. I still managed to get my Platinum status on my Love's card, even with a week at casa de Snackbar...and I will top 20k actual miles for the year (as in, not counting any carryover miles from the end of last year)...truck is still running decent...so I won't say anything...if I start boasting and celebrating, the wheels will fall off and I will be the one giving up loads to other drivers to repower instead of being the one repowering.

Any clue as to what we pick up in Dublin, GA? Got a sneak preview of potential BH location. Florida load is ready in a couple of hours so rolling out early a.m. via the southern route to enjoy a little warmer weather.
