Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

According to the membership of drivers in the rumor room, we don't look to make much on backhaul loads. Basically cover expenses to get us back to the loads that make the company the gravy...as in outbound loads.

 

So how does the 900 same work? Do I get the new trip # from shipping and leave like normal?

 

U will leave paperwork with guard and they will issue a new cover sheet with new trip number

 

I recently received an unsolicited paper application for Poly-Trucking in the mail. I assume they got my information from my resume on careerbuilder or linkedin or the like. I did some research on poly-trucking and it seems like an operation I would have been very interested applying for when I was looking for a new job back in January. However I started a new job in February and I'm pretty happy with it.

I have a question about me living in Milwaukee, WI and dispatching, etc. How would that work out exactly? It seems that most of your guys' loads leave out of GP, TX and a few other Poly-America locations.. Where would I work out of, and how would I get back home? Do you guys have a lot of loads going into and out of SE Wisconsin? It seems like you guys pick your own loads..

 

You would most likely call our Cottage Grove, MN plant home. We do have regular runs to southern WI (Beaver Dam, Oconomowoc, etc) and northern IL (Rockford, University Park, etc.). But most of those loads originate out of Grand Prairie. So, leaving home, you would most likely backhaul a load to MN, then run where ever you want(or where ever the freight allows) then when it was time to get home for some time off the next time, you would have to be in TX. The majority of backhaul loads we pick up out of your area head to MN.

Honestly, if you're happy where you are, I would stay. Things are chaotic over here for many of us. I, for one, have my wife pulling my work history and e-mailing it to me so I can begin the process of leaving.

My Monday started out in typical Snackbar style. Got a call from backhaul bright and early. 2 stop pu in the SeaTac area headed to somewhere in Grand Prairie. I call the broker, get the customers names and addresses, and was told that they pick up any time between now and Tuesday afternoon. So, I hustle to the 1st pick up, all the while planning how far I will try to get today so I can be ready asap to pull a load out of GP. I get to stop one, only to find out I have an 8 a.m. appointment for TOMORROW. The load at stop 1 isn't ready to load early, and a quick call to stop 2 tells me they aren't ready until tomorrow as well...so the carrot of hope was dangled before me again and I followed it...right off the cliff of disappointment again. So, I head back to North Bend to bed down for the rest of the day (and night) only to find that the T/A is already full (at noon-thirty). The northwest is getting as unappealing to me as the northeast is...

 

What's with all of the day cab Poly's here in the Houston area? Baytown area off of 146 and I10 is where I see a bunch of trailers that look like roll off garbage ....maybe recyclables??

 

Have a plant in Mount Bellvieu. They run around picking up scrap plastic from the refineries to be processed and used at other plants to make finished products

 

Plastic is a petroleum product...once the world runs out of rotten dinosaurs(as in oil), Poly will be out of business....of course, when that happens, running out of trash bags and drop clothes will be down the list of things people will be worrying about.
