I've been lurking in the shadows for a while and finally got the guts to speak up.

I agree with your assessment of Alan. I spoke to him briefly after a incident with his Hiney, Prince Hyatt. To paraphrase his words, 'I like my job and I will do what I have to in order to keep it.' And if you read between the lines and guess, that might mean bend anyone over he needs to and break it off inside them in order to keep his position. I have never had issues with Pat, yet, but I've only been here just slightly longer than Super. As for my opinion, whomever is responsible for continuing to buy these problematic Internationals should be escorted to the gate, never to return. They are a major cause of many of the issues Poly is having. And it is not just a maintenance issue, the overall reliability from day one is a major problem. They break down, drivers lose money, the company has to scramble to cover the load (if it is an out bound load) or the broker gets screwed (if it is a back haul load) and we all get hurt because we lose brokers that will do business with us, so we have to sit longer waiting on that phone call. Some have speculated that when Mrs. Ross passes away (God forbid) that the trucking part of Poly America will cease to exist, it is only being kept alive because she won't allow it to close because it was the late Mr. Ross' baby, and that the boys think it is an unnecessary liability.

Dispatch is a pain , A certain dispatcher has come down on me twice because I couldn't get the load where it needed to be on time , shipping messed up the schedule by loading late. I suspect this is why they avoid e logs , they expect us to sit on the situation and hold off starting the log book until the last minute

    Something doesn't make sense ,
If any of the issues we talk about here were a real problem Poly would do something about it .
For example , They fire people for alcohol use and drugs on the spot , if you were smoking on the property or doing donuts in the parking lot with your truck or car they would handle it
then and there , if you decided to go duck hunting or fishing down by the pond it would be stopped . So my guess is that the stuff we are on about doesn't even register with
    these guys .
They make a fortune on these loads ,from what I've heard . A percentage of late loads and the penatly involved isn't going to hurt them . After the recent rumors that the outside brokers were going to " cut us off " I asked Dave ( the broker) about the breakdown issues and he stated in no uncertain terms " breakdowns are part of the business " .

I fell I am correct in my assessment .
I'm gonna stay as long as they will keep me ,
( and on the suggestion of a fellow driver keep my phone on silent when under a load to prevent any Dispatcher Intrusions whilst driving ... Safety First ) :)

One word comes to mind that makes the difference between action and inaction, that word...LIABILITY. Drinking or drugs...hurts the CSA if the driver is caught using and driving. Donuts...crash injury...smoking, they had a big fire years ago that caused millions in damage to the neighborhood (that they just bought instead of fixing the houses)...all potentially cost money. Us sitting broke down, only cost is a motel. Us sitting because the loaders are taking an extended siesta...cost them nothing.

If there is a chance they will lose money...it is addressed...if it doesn't, what do they care....it's all about the G R E E N....there is one thing rich people want...more money. The more they have, the more they want.

One thing I question concerning there 'safety always' mentality. Qualcomm can track and calculate state mileage. Yes, it costs. But, they don't subscribe to it. They would rather we take our attention off driving, grab our pen and paper, then take our eyes off the road, look down at our odometer and then look down while we write down our state line mileage...real safe.

Greed ...that's it SSB , i completely over looked the obvious , old saying , " Greed is the only snake that cannot be charmed "

Qual comm /Logbooks : Talked to a fellow recently who got popped fudging his books in order to get a load delivered , the Qual comm is what exposed his
activities , no points , but next time he gets the boot . So maybe they like to test us for honesty.

Come to think of it , the higher ups have completely backed me up in running legal .
Maybe they have it set up the way they do to see if
we cave into temptation or pressure from dispatch
    should that occur .

My problem is I don't like games

You know, you can go insane if you don't post and discuss your frustrations, I hope Poly can get their act together.

Don't we all...but I think it'll be a bit frosty in the deep south before that happens(as in the deep south Adam Sandler was referring to in his movie "Little Nicky")

I was a bit like the former member once known as Mev, fearing retribution from Poly if I spoke up with a similar opinion as so many have expressed. But it is getting to the point that I too have been exploring alternative employment options, so I guess if they find out who I am, and lower the boom, so be it. If that happens, I was looking to leave anyway, I guess it would be fate shining it's light on my inevitable future.
