I wish I had the answer...
Seems to me you and your wife's plans are already screwed up and quitting right now in that way ain't gonna make your life any better.

Plus I thought getting home at Poly was like a chess game, (it took strategy to get to a spot to get a load home)
    Good luck to you

    craigo36 and xlsdraw Thank this.

Hometime planning for my area is simple. Warn them a week or so ahead, then only take loads inbetween that will return you to GP within 3 or so days before so they can save you a load to get you home. Which is what I tried to do. The only alternative to taking this load was sit until Tuesday and run something short. But I figured that they could put together a backhaul that would pick up on Thursday and deliver by Monday or early Tuesday, then my home load would be ready.

As far as leaving, it is inevitable at this point. The sooner I leave the less I have to deal with this. As radioshark posted about a similar issue, I am not the first, and I won't be the last.

    *****Update*****
I am not sure if someone up the food chain in the office got wind of my issue or if it was pure coincidence but an hour or so after I posted that last post, one of the driver supe's called me. A driver had been located to handle my delivery so my drop at the GP yard has now been approved. If he did indeed pulled strings to get me home, I appreciate it, and am in his debt. If it was just dumb luck or coincidence then I am thankful because good dumb luck happening to me is ultra rare. Now all I have to do is be lucky enough to get a load home in time.

Well, I hope you get home in time.
I read up on the other thread. The Day one insurance would be good for you.
Me, I'll be ranting if I get home late. But then I have 200 tons of gravel ordered.

You know, if we all were happy with our jobs there would probably only be one job in the entire world and just think how boring that would be!! Does Poly have a 401k and is it "in house" or do they use an outside company?? Still haven't heard enough bad to make me not think of joining up someday.

Well they pulled a rabbit out of their hats...900 current load at GP, pu my home load Tuesday, deliver Thursday morning then home to kiss the little woman bye-bye before she heads out. Earlier this week I was convinced that it wouldn't work out, but it got worked out. If anyone upstairs that reads this and had a hand in this...a huge thank you from my wife and I.:biggrin_25514:

I'm glad it worked out, but...........,, Why aren't you going along on the trip with the wife?

Odds are.. You'll be stranded with this "mother in law"
Are you really going to make a sinkhole under her new bedroom while she's there?
(not that there's anything wrong with that )

You should be a carpenter because you hit the nail on the head. At least on staying home babysitting the MIL. This trip is a workshop being paid for by the city (at a $150/night Hilton) and her future assistant (who is a family friend) is going because she will be working with my wife once the city changes my wife's position from being a 1099 contractor to a city employee. If I would have went, it would have been awkward for more than one of us.:biggrin_25521:
And neither can afford $150/night to get a second room.

Had she not been able to go, her current contract and her future position would have been in jeopardy since this was a condition of her being kept on as the market manager.(along with her friend not getting the job)

200 tons? That must be a big driveway. Or maybe you're gonna stockpile it until the price spikes and then resell it and make out like a bandit! !!! Or maybe you just really like gravel and always dreamed of having a big pile of it at your house.
Regardless, congratulations on making your dreams come true! !!!!!

Snackbar, if you do decide to change companies, you might look at Robert Bearden Inc. They just run the south. Home every weekend. Lowes in Valdosta Ga is their biggest account.
The downside : $.35/mile. I've had two friends there. They say it is a pleasant place to work.
