Got in to get my yearly state inspection today at GP. Ya' know, the same inspection they do every oil change. Told them I had to be in Search AR tomorrow. So, they decided to change the windshield because of a rock chip. The same mother freekin rock chip that was there the last 2 oil changes that wasn't in my line of sight and wasn't bad enough to worry about. So, at 4 pm they had it changed, but I had to wait until 6 pm before driving. Which wouldn't allow me enough time to get to Searcy and get a break before delivering. So now I have to use tomorrow's hours to get to the delivery instead of getting to my backhaul. Friday the 13 can't get here fast enough. I cannot wait to be on that plane bound for Fargo...I hope the flight path takes me right over Poly so I can flip them the bird as I fly over. I know it won't be seen from the ground, but it'll make me feel better. Too bad I can't pinch one off in the bathroom as we fly over so I can flush a brown/blue ice cube all over the compound.
I also heard that the order for this year's new trucks has been cancelled because of the expense of the new SC plant. And they are talking maybe no new trucks next year either...man, I didn't realize how fast a company could go in the toilet.Last edited: Nov 2, 2015

not whats good for drivers on the trucking end.
Remember they are not a trucking company per se.
We are no different than the warehouse worker or the janitor
in their payroll structure and corporate framework.
They will probably continue to shrink in size as far as
drivers and continue to contract out more freight as I'm seeing it.
You're making a wise move getting out IMO.
(Im right behind you one way or the other , just gotta
decide which direction to head) Return to the West coast or
or head to the great white north with Magnum -
If I compare Poly to Crete, the end result is the same. Sorta 6 one way a half dozen another. Or...it's like balancing a scale of bad...on one side you have Poly which is like 2 5 lb bags of sugar and on the other side you have Crete which is like 10 1 lb bags of sugar. These bags of sugar are the problems each company has...Poly has 2 big problem equipment (including maintenance of them) and their Amish style of doing business(as in staying away from modern technologies that would make better profits and improve our job). Where Crete has many other smaller problems, but have no issues with modern technologies. Comparing the two, they both are equally bad, just in many different ways. -
Management tried to give me that same TX toll charge again, only with a late fee this time. Wrong again. Gave it right back. If they insist later this week...I'll put on a show and exercise my Ohio public school education and prove that my SOB PhD was well worth the investment!

The one thing I will miss the least about this company is the antiquated dispatch system. Specifically the way they handle TX backhauls. The way they work it now, you don't find out about whether they have an actual customer to haul freight for or you are getting a PolTex load until the last minute. By then, you are so far down on Outbounds list, you get crap. Now you can jump the gun and assume you're headed directly back to GP and put yourself on the board before Backhaul calls. But I have been burned on that more than once by getting an actual backhaul that delivers on a Monday, and having to call Outbound back and remove my name from the weekend board.
My last week here will be screwed by this scenerio. I found out at noon on Friday that I was indeed hauling a PolTex load back to GP. I immedately called Outbound and put myself on Sunday's board. No call Friday, which means that they are not only out of weekend freight, but Monday freight as well. Yea, I know, I'm leaving, so why go out of their way to keep me busy (like they ever do that anyway). It only make my decision to leave that much more enjoyable...and proves it to have been the right move.
Anyone looking for a "part time" trucking job should apply at Poly...because that is all it amounts to. I honestly have never sat so much driving OTR in my career, and that includes my time spent at Crete.Loanerdude and 28 Thank this. -
I love me a part time job as of last pay period ending October 31st paying 51k+. Everyone I talk to in the terminal has made more than me too. I've seen guys complain like most drivers and then show me their pay stub and be north of 60k and I'm like wtf lol. Oh well everyone's got there priorities.

This last Monday my load was like 12 hours late coming out of gp, ya sucks. Left gp at 8pm Monday and had a delivery in Lakeland fl at 7am Wednesday. Poly actually called me Tuesday and asked if I wanted to reschedule the load, of course i said no and still delivered it on time. Was at the house Wednesday by 13-1400. We will see what they got this Wednesday for a backhaul.

I started out the first couple months hopefull that I would gross over 60k, but my truck, the shop and shipping screwed that pooch. I might have just cleared the amount I had last year if I had stayed. I must be working for the same Poly as loanerdude. I wish I would have hired on to the one Armyguy works for.Loanerdude Thanks this.
