I saw 4 Poly trucks heading west towards Effingham this morning.
Which means nothing, except it's rare to see that many within 100 miles.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

I think part of the lack of available loads is due to the fact that this weekend is the first drivers meeting. Since I knew I was leaving, I didn't pay any attention to the dates of the meetings. Went to drop my PolTex load on the yard and had to hunt for a parking spot. This week will be a joke for miles...a fitting closure to one of the worst decisions I ever made...that decision was coming to this company in the first place. And that says a lot when you look at my past, which includes a f-lease deal with Prime.
I thought I had some miles coming. Got finished with lunch, was watching a dvd and e-outbound calls. Had a load that needed repowered. Origional driver had a family emergency so they needed a driver for a New Braunfels load. I bust it up to the yard, hook up, scale out...re-f'g-count. I was 1600 lbs light. So now I am sitting at the dock waiting for everyone in the warehouse to take off their shoes and socks so they can count high enough to count my load.
5 days.....just 5 days, it is going to go by like this.....1.................................1000.............................................................2......................................................................1000.(etc.)
They must have A D D....I heard....uno, dos, tres....oh, mira el gatito...uno, dos....
(for those who don't speak spanish, that means 1, 2, 3, oh, look at the kitty....1, 2,....)Last edited: Nov 8, 2015

I've always liked it that way, just give me my load and forget who i am or where i am, it means their not tracking me or hovering over me or wondering why I'm still parked where i am 5 min after my 10 is up, i prefer it that way. actually it makes me wonder if i could stay home for 6 months until they call and wonder if I'm ready to get on the board lol
maninthemoon1 Thanks this. -
And thanks to this job, my blood isn't quite as thin as most that live there (and my neck isn't quite as red either). While I haven't seen -40, last year I did spend most of a week below 0 in a Poly truck back when I use to do a lot more loads out of UPN.
Leaving is almost bitter-sweet in a way. Leaving what is familiar for a new company, even if it was only two years here has me a bit on edge. But all it takes to relieve that is remembering how many unpaid hours I sat at GP waiting for those yahoos in shipping to get around to loading me, or waiting on the yabos in the shop to finally figure out that it's righty-tighty.
Heard from some of the drivers that attended the drivers meeting. The way it sounded, it was more of a disorganized madhouse than usual. And a lot of people arent't happy with the prospect of what the new plant in SC is going to do to many of the long N/E runs that use to come out of GP. That and the fact that they said you either get Thanksgiving OR Christmas off...but not both. Plus, they announced it officially that there will be no new trucks until after that plant is in production. Sorry guysmushroom1464 and maninthemoon1 Thank this. -
