It's very simple, money. When an outside carrier gets delayed, they are charged detention. When a company truck is delayed, it might cost them a charge from certain customers for a late delivery or an appointment change (when it's past a certain deadline)...and this is what someone who worked behind the glass told me.

As far as the e-logs...before I left, I believe they had most, if not all, trucks equipped with e-log capable q/comm units. They just said they weren't turning that part of the system on until they were forced to.

Looking at some of my numbers through the first 4 months of this year. I didn't turn in my last week's paperwork in, until today so there's 3k miles not included.

    Miles paid=40,570
    Gross pay=21,572
    Days at home=27

Pretty good numbers for myself I think.

Left the house Saturday a couple days later then i wanted do to no backhaul. Picked up in Mooresville nc Sunday , dropped the load on the yard in grand prairie today. Got a load for tomorrow headed to Windsor Connecticut. Hopefully I'll get a backhaul Friday after I deliver. Don't want to spend a weekend in Connecticut.

Most of the outside contractors are on e-logs,
    So they load them first.
That way poly doesn't have to hear any #### from
Them about making thier app time.

How are you doing these miles ?
I don't take much time off and my numbers are less than thirty .
Maybe I'm looking at the pay stubs
incorrectly , because the money I'm getting is very good .

I will need to do some recalculating
    it looks like

On pay stub it says milage pay, multiply by 2.
I don't go west which is kind of weird because I hear a lot of guys say you got to go west to get the miles.

I didn't do any better running up to the NW and back than when I ran FL, NC or PA. Just a lot less traffic and more wide open spaces out west.

I am thinking about poly trucking I have 12 yrs experience no accidents perfect CSA score and excellent references from my only 2 employers in the 12 yrs . But my only concern is I have had the best equipment in the business and to think of something that is old and ragged is my only concern. I have been driving in the entertainment business for the last 6 yr and it is getting old. I never thought I would say that but a company like Poly makes me think that they are a place I would like to be . What are the chances of getting a 3 yr or new unit with a diesel apu ?? If I knew that was a option I would be applying ASAP

Don't count on a truck with an APU. They had 1 year with the Dynasys units, and a bunch of those have issues with keeping them functioning properly. Poly doesn't have an issue with idle time, and most of their permanently assigned trucks have factory inverters (with wall plugs). The problem, it's an all International Prostar fleet, and a lot of them are Maxxforce powered trucks, which means a lot of shop time. The last group they bought were the DEF Cummins powered Prostars, and they were less problematic, but as a new hire, it is doubtful they would assign one to you right away. They told us, right before I quit, that no new trucks were going to be purchased until after the new SC plant was up and running sometime in 2017.
