I work for Davis Express. Who is the driver? I may or may not know him as I've only been here a few
weeks myself.
Also, don't presume to know what is best for others. I'm not being defensive. I'm just saying what's best for you may not be best for me and vice-versa.
I can tell you I'm quite happy. I likely don't make as much here (I gross $1100 a week on average), but I'm known by name by everyone, including the Davis family. And again, I'm pretty new.
The equipment is great. And, if I have to call ANYONE, I get an answer by a friendly voice on the other end that's happy to help. And, I'm home every 7 days for 2 days off. And, it's a full 2 days, not a 34 reset. Finally, I never leave the southeast.
That works well for me. Poly, from all I've heard and read, would not. I like to make money as much as anyone, but not at the expense of being treated like a second class citizen, and it doesn't appear Poly gives a rats rip about their drivers. That's a very similar environment to what I left and I was miserable there.
But, it obviously works for you and that's great for you.
Glad I moved over to Poly Trucking

I personally at poly don't get treated anyway. I don't deal with anyone except when getting loads 95% of the time. So on average maybe 2 to 5 minutes I communicate with them a week.
Davis insurance seems to be what scares me away, I heard they don't have family plans or something like that. I also take home 1100+ a week when I'm out after $200 to insurance 6% to 401k and taxes. Davis is probably more consistent with home time though. -
Got my back haul around 1700 eastern picking up in Bassett VA noon tomorrow going to farmers branch TX for Monday. I'll probably get a 900 different get a 34 reset and be on the boaRd for Sunday. Looking like 3k miles with a 34 in 7 days.
28 Thanks this. -
and p/u my back haul in the morning .
It's gonna be a good week

Davis does not allow spouses on their medical plan. You can have your kids on it, however. Your spouse can have dental, vision, everything else.
Btw, I got to Starke around 10:00 am. Was told my truck was due for a pm and to have the DPF filter changed. I also had a check engine light on (a bad sensor for something) and a hazard light out. I got my truck back at 1730 this afternoon.
Anyway, all the best to you. I'll ask that fella the next time I see him if he worked at Poly. -
28 and Frank Speak Thank this.

other , I wonder what was the straw that broke the camels back and made him decide to bail out .

Not the best loads offered for Sunday. They had several Illinois Minnesota loads, 2 stopper to Ohio, a 3 stopper to VA , and the one I took which was a 4 stopper to NC.
I probably would have gone up north and tried for more miles but Im trying to work it so I can be home for the 4th.28 Thanks this. -
Im hanging in there as best i can -
This week blows, took way to long to get back to gp last weekend due to wrecks closing down the interstate and truck issues Saturday. Truck wouldn't clear manual regen required so I was waiting for a possible tow on Saturday. After 3-4 hours it cleared before tow truck showed up so I got to gp late that night.
Sunday the loads were running late and after about 12 hours I wasn't loaded yet so went to sleep. Left Monday and made deliveries on time, finishing 3rd now and 4th at 1700. I got my 1200ish mile back haul picking up tomorrow in king mountain nc not due till Monday in Baytown tx. Will end up being 8days 2700 miles with 4 paid drops.
On the outbound board for Tuesday headed home, so we will see how that goes. Im not taking anything but a home load so hoping I don't have to sit to long waiting on one.28 Thanks this.
