It seems like there's been vast improvements made at Poly recently. I'm considering Poly, and am supposed to interview there in the next week or two. Have things gotten better (equipment, shop problems, breakdowns, etc.)?

I've been with my current employer for nearly 15 years, and am nervous for the change (its the devil I know) but with coming elog mandate, and their unwillingness to adapt, I feel compelled to move on.

I recently stumbled on these Poly threads which paint a pretty horrific picture of the company, but many of the posts are 6 months old or more.

So I guess I'm asking if things have gotten/are getting better. Would you encourage me to continue the hiring process or steer me elsewhere?

Upside : .... new trucks on the way ( heard they have Petes on order ) .... breakdown pay is in effect according to a driver who just broke down .... we just went to .52 cpm ( HUB) .... miles are steady since we tend to go out to the same areas and back ( you pick your loads so in effect you write your own paycheck ).. .... New plant about to open in Chester .
E logs are phasing in . Home time is great ( they don't count weekends ) .... a few more good things have happened but I can't recall what they are.
( I want to say LayOver but I'm not certain )

Downside: Other than shipping running 24 to 36 hours behind and that dreadful entity known as the shop it's a very good place.

They still have loaners if your regular truck is held down , it's quite the adventure to find a
functioning loaner . You can have a list of 10
and 6 of them won't even turn over while the other 4 have issues . Not sure but they
may not even be taking care of them anymore.

I managed to find 1 out of 10 a few weeks back
that got me off the yard and down the road .It held up until I got back . Some run but are simply so nasty inside no one will move into them .For example I Had one a while back that was like a giant ashtray .., cigarette butts and ashes everywhere ... it was pretty sick .

    Attention all Managers :
If Management required the drivers returning with loaners to report to the shop for a cleanliness inspection it would help the other drivers immensely . Don't give them their
regular truck back until they return a clean loaner . ( Unfortunately Poly is infested with drivers that just don't give a s*** about others)
... and unless mgmt steps in nothing will change

    Bottom Line :
It's far more good than bad lately

    Good Luck. :)

Ya' know, if it weren't for the 120 day waiting period for health insurance, I would break my own rule and consider returning. My 2 biggest gripes were equipment problems and lack of breakdown pay when on the road, and it looks as though they are resolving those.

i never understood how they can put your truck out of service but then have you choose from loaners that should be put out of service. might as well take your own truck out with the issues its has than attempt a truck that has more issues than what you were in lol what would concern me is that in a few yrs they will be right back to where they are now with the new trucks.

I've been told that Compliance is suppose to check the trucks when they return to the yard for cleanliness. I have never seen any of them on the yard checking trucks. For that matter, I've never seen any of them on the yard.

It's not just Poly...believe me! But if you try to say anything about another driver you're just a whining sumbich that needs to do his own job and stop worrying about others...haha It's a catch 22 on you where the mgr. can just tell his/her boss that "the other drivers never said anything...how was I to know"

Try having that type of driver who also dispatches :(

Poly isn't forced dispatch ... so if the shop takes a drivers regular truck
in for maintenance we can just go to the motel and chill . No pressure
to get into a nasty loaner truck. Personally I just clean them , spray for bugs
and try to make some miles .
