I got a Peterbilt when I hired on a year ago.

If the horror stories about those old internationals are true, I would have quit if had to deal with that.

I went through about 20 of them my first year.
I had ac and heat about 5 months out of the first year and
    A half I was here.
They'd fix it at the yard, then as soon as you get
300 miles away they would stop working again.

I got by with a space heater in the winter and a
Fan in the summer. It was horrible.
Not to mention having to swap trucks in a 100
Degree heat everytime you hit the yard.
That was the only way you could make any money.

the freightliners were junk when the shop got done with them, the internationals were junk when the shop got done with them, the peterbilts will be junk when the shop gets done with them, the only hope is to get a good truck and take care of it and hope it doesnt have to be repaired by the shop. the pay is pretty good, your better off taking a few cents off your mileage pay, putting it aside and getting it fixed yourself, you would still probably come out ahead of most companies.

Repair a company vehicle myself? No, that would be last straw for sure.

Only reason I’m putting up with this as it is the overall state of the economy.

The mile pay premium is the only thing with Poly that kinda makes the excessive sitting somewhat tolerable. Jan to end of July I am now sitting north of 60 days holdover/layover and that doesn’t count the days they didn’t pay me for BS reasons. That number is around 70.

On your last paycheck, in the first block of numbers in the YTD column, do they come close to this?
    38,000
    2500
    11700
    2350
    31200

If they do you should pull down 75k this year provided you don't need a lot of time off. This includes the approximately 4k for vacation and 401k match..

Clear morning in DFW. Saw the smoke all the way from Plano to Dallas on my to my companies yard. Can still see the smoke an hour north in southern Oklahoma.

Fire looks pretty massive, they’re probably concentrating on containing it and just allowing it to burn itself out.
