First off, lately I have been getting high7's low 8's in MPG. So a smaller engine is getting better mpg. (im rarely under 75K) And yes I can make it all over PA and any ware without downshifting as long as no one else slows me down. If an engine is large do to tunes, that's one thing, but an larger engine that is just a large engine will be less efficient.
That being said, some of the epa crap is stupid, but a lot of ot really does help our environment stay cleaner. Some of these tuned trucks billow black smoke every time they hit the throttle. That's not cool no matter how efficient it is. Those trucks should be taken off the road. There are emission standards for a reason and if you want you r kids to be able to breath when they grow up, you may want to not drive a supper pouting truck.

Now it's turned into a tree hugging argument. OK maybe OP should forgo a glider altogether and get a 2014 truck with dpf/scr and our grandchildren can thank him later. A properly set up and tuned high horsepower engine does not smoke.
Driveone, Cetane+, Cowmobile and 1 other person Thank this. -
I love the environment, that's why I try to use up as much of it as I can.
Driveone, billandlori, heavyhaulerss and 4 others Thank this. -

And since it seems you don't follow along very well, I'll go pull all the things the show you how wrong you are. Not that I expect you to ever to acknowledge you're mistaken, as you haven't done it once that I can remember in any single thread you've posted in. I've taken the time a couple times to try and teach you something, in a couple threads, yet you insist on being an argumentative ### who refuses to see where you are wrong. Now this will take a while, and why I'm wasting my time I don't know, but here goes! I'll be back later.
BTW, we haven't disagreed that as a general rule Detroits get better mileage, this is about performance, which you insist the Detroit is a better performer.
Now if I can just remember who I gave the gauntlet of lost causes to, I'll be all set. -
