Our insurance company would pre screen all the drivers and give them a "score" based on that score we knew if they had a clean record or not. Now they are no longer giving scores and will more of a yes/no from there end, however we will not know if they have any violations etc, where is your go to place to run MVR's?
If you wanting CSA's PSP's and so on from databases that contain information that may or may not exist on a standard MVR... that's way above my paygrade. IF anyone pulled my life time MVR my sins come to light until about 1993. After that not a #### thing.
And he answered it, either the applicant gets it for you or you make a request to the DMV with the applicants permission (written). I was told I had to have new hire mvrs on record and accessible and my insurance company has their own record separate from mine.
If you are the Motor Carrier you have to make an inquiry (The driver bringing you his MVR will not suffice) within 30 days of hiring for each state he has held a license in the past 3 years. You also have to run one annually. An MVR will not contain PSP or CSA info. Have the appropriate permission/releases signed and either run it through the state (Contact your state for their process) or I have found it easier to use Hirerite. I believe it’s around $18.00 for each one. It usually takes 3-4 hours.
Is it identical to the "selfie" Information Request Form one can buy from the DMV? Or more limited info / goes back fewer years? (Mine has stuff from 11-12 years back)

The insurance company ran the driver MVR's in order to "score" the drivers, if they were 100% clean we would then onboard after a clean pre employment urine and then would have them complete the DQF to be in compliance with DOT (with a 3rd party company), that file also runs the MVR to have it all in one package. We did it this way because the 3rd party doesn't really have the option to run the MVR, if clean send driver back to complete the rest of the DQF after the clean urine etc.
