I am working under someone else Authority right now been doing it for years. Over the years picked up some direct clients so deciding to go out on my own Authority. I was checking around and found out a lot of Brokers wont use you with new Authority for like 3 months they want some background on you also some information on Safety and DOT. Ex like when you get pulled into a scale and they do a full inspection and report it to the DOT. Does anyone no what brokers use new Owner Operators??

When we first got our authority we had to use bottom feeders like TQL, CH Robinson and such. We only encountered a few that required six months to a year. Funny thing is that those who made us wait don't seem to be around today. Get your own authority and you will be fine. Use load boards like Getloaded and Truckers Edge that will show you a broker's credit rating. I recommend using a factoring company like TBS Factoring for quick oay if the broker doesn't offer the service.

    You'll be fine.

If you provide a reliable service, your reputation will carry you and as soon as you post your truck as available, those that know you will call. Those that want to know you will call also.

Just dont get labeled for hauling cheap. Its a double edged sword. You need to run,.. but need to make money. If you know what your bottom line is to haul a load,.. dont go below that.

easy there cowboy, don't bite the hand that fed you. They both have good accounts and excellent rates. I know they won't put them on new carriers, I wouldn't either, risking the account over a newbie.

BNSF, TQL, CH Robinson, Landstar, Pepsi, Allen Lund, etc will all take you right away. Most of the smaller brokers don't seem to care.

Others will take you after 1-3 months -- Coyote, Western Express, etc.

If you post a truck in a high-demand area, brokers that wouldn't normally use you will often make an exception. And once you've hauled 1 load for them, they'll use you again and again.

Also if you ask to use agents as references along the way it helps. A broker that says "Aw, you've only been in business 4 months, I don't think we can use you." will almost always change his tune if you hand him a list of 10 references from the last month or two...

I was running on a friend authority for a couple years and just recently reinstated mine.for the most part I've had no problems.i have been told by a couple brokers that they could not use me because I was recently reinstated even though they knew who I was.
