I am doing great. This has been my only short week. I keep talking with after hours here though and I have been saving loads for them. I did two more loads off the yard to Walmart in casa grande for 100 miles a piece and my office through me an additional 50.00 each and now I am doing a Vegas round trip on a dry trailer for 600 miles. Still a little short but much better than where I started. Then I have an 1100 mile load to OKC I get at 1200 on the 30th.

Q: Do you have a separate fuel card for reefer fuel? We had to as a Swift o/o when carrying their reefer so could bill customer separately...was that just an o/o thing?

Right. You have to select tractor, reefer, and DEF at the pump. Not just swipe and do it all as one bill.

Only place the card ever has to be swiped twice is when at a Knight yard. The old pumps require sep swipes other then that its one swipe and on your way. Apply's to O/O's also.

What gets me is the guys that place the nozzle on the ground and pull forward to fuel the reefer. Reefer fuel is taxed differently, no road tax. By hanging up the pump, you are separating the transactions for billing purposes.

    OverDrive Thanks this.

This is where my bonus will end this quarter. Like I said, I have been doing well at Knight.

Freight always slows down after school starts and picks up b4 Thksgiving/Xmas--then falls off again after the holidays until Apr. May be somewhat different for reefer as they carry perishables not dry goods which can be stocked for future sale...?

EDIT: Altho JIT (Just-In-Time) inventory was and are the buzz words to minimize large inventories and the costs associated with them. Was one advantage that long-haul trucking had over the RR's---can deliver a load in days (esp if team driving) vs. weeks when going coast-to-coast.

Depending on if they are True O/O's or not they could be payin for the transaction all at once. Pays cash then pulls forward to put fuel in the reefer tank. It depends on the situation but not everyone has the "Reefer" option at fuel up and not everyone uses a card. Some just simply use cash and move on with no "paper trail"
