You'll be good to go flatbedding within six months. I'd start filling out apps and making some phone calls after three months or so.

Notice has been given at my current job. Will leave them on the 29th. Not much longer.
-
I gave my notice yesterday and I was called in and told we accept your notice as your resignation, please pack your things. My direct supervisor knows I do my job but this guy that booted me today has not liked me from day one. He did it for no other reason than to show that he could. I wasn't allowed to send a message to my board saying this is my last day, nice working with you or anything. I will be in orientation in Springdale, AR Monday the 18th and in training at Memphis, Tn the following Monday. I can't believe he did that.
I am no longer there so, my name is Tom, formerly of Maverick Transportation Temperature Control Division. -
My advice is to just move on and look at it as a loss to your previous co.
Dont value yourself in 'other' peoples eyes---but, as doing the right thing and having pride in your efforts is the true 'reality'.
Good luck with your future endeavors.....knuckledragger Thanks this. -
Agreed. All this does it hurt me me financially a little. It helps that Knight had someone cancel their orientation and they booked me in. I'm ready to do this.
-
how many days did they tell you for orientation? Im going to orientation on the 19th then hope to be in Pheniox on the 25th. My recruiter is slow at sending emails tho so i haven't gotten my schedule yet.
-
She said it depends but 3 or 4 days is how long it normally takes. From what I understand each terminal is different so it can vary.

Probably going back over the road with Knight, myself. My current employer has become a soap opera. And the stink of the place is becoming all to well known. I do not want to wear it. Bosses and managers sleeping with employees. Hell, I am a Team Lead, and the rumor that a new employee was carrying my love child was enough to prove to me how badly this place has become. It really makes me miss the solitude of the open road. The only thing is, I have improved my health so much while being out of the truck for the last 22 months, I do not want to loose that. Are APU's ever going to become mandatory? Keep us updated what you see there, Misesian.

Since retiring, preparing my own home-cooked meals, daily walking/exercising, getting regular sleep, losing 35 lbs, I just went from high BP & pre-type 2 diabetes to getting an "A+" for yearly physical and blood work from my primary physician.
OTR is hard on the body and ages a person unless they have incredible self-discipline! -
It was grocery day anyway so I bought food that doesn't require the level or prep I do at home. Lots of canned goods. No salt added varieties of spinach, pinto beans, and peas. Canned roast beef (much healthier than I thought it would be), peanut butter, kipper snacks, Lara Bars, and some prunes. I also have plenty of blackstrap molasses left for my molasses tea (water and molasses with a little ice). I have some resistance bands I will be taking with me and I have a 53lb kettlebell. Kettlebells are awesome, if you don't have one I highly recommend it. I plan on staying healthy out there. 10 day cost for the food is 75.00. I didn't include the peanut butter as that will last twice as long.
When I was originally budgeting for food I set it at 250.00 a month. I will come in under budget there.
