Quebec DOT are kinda jerks about the speed limiter. Personal experience. My company didn’t want to govern the truck so I got a few $531 fines for it. Deauville scales in Sherbrooke...they would come out while I was on the scales and plug into my ecm to see if I was governed. No other reason then just to check, I wasn’t overweight, they didn’t do an inspection...I don’t miss going up there lol.

If you want to really get a good tool, get their diagnostic software with their adapter. This will allow you to change the speed limiter and other things plus it is good to have when you have issues.
Now I don't know what the price is, I have other software that I can use on a volvo from Mack but I assume it would be pricy. -

I drive in Canada, primarily Ontario and Quebec, and also in the US. I have noticed that while I am driving in the US I am regularly passed by the trucks of Canadian carriers based in Ontario or Quebec. My truck is governed at 65 so they are obviously going faster than me. I've often wondered if they have the ability to bypass or change their speed limiters. These are reputable carriers so my presumption is that they are in compliance while in Canada.

With geofencing technologies and such nowadays its not a stretch to think its possible to have a truck govern itself once you've crossed into Ontario/Queerbec. As well as removing the speed limiter once you leave.

Soon enough there will be sensors in speed limit signs that communicate with traffic's ECM and forces traffic to be speed limited to the sign displayed. When people cannot be trusted to hold the speed limit, by golly they will robot that shizz. -
