Can anybody break it down for me? I received my CDL in 2009 from Teamsters but barely used it. I drive automatic trucks in Army reserves but it's sporadic. Recruiter said I could request automatic for the initial roadtest. I'm confident with maneuvers but rusty on shifting. I def want a mentor with a stick, for the experience & need practice on backing. I'm excited about doing this but a little nervous. Any input would be highly appreciated. If this works out I'm leaving Army Reserves in October (10 years). I'm single & my son is in college,so I can be on the road as long as they need me. Thanks & cheers.

I've been driving for many years; none with Swift (or a "real" mega, per se.) Just following and wishing you luck; is all. Like Pup says, "Go Get It~!" :)

You can accomplish anything you set out to do. Swift is the easiest company to get trained with & trucking is booming right now. Set a plan & stick to it. In 2009,the conditions were not so positive, due to the recession. This along with my young son & clingy girlfriend, inhibited me from taking the leap to OTR. Good luck.

I should do ok. I have no police record and a clean driving record for 13+ years. I told the recruiter about my crappy driving record from beyond the 13 year mark & he assured me I was good to go. I can pass a drug test as well. I hear of many from orientation being sent home ,but think I'll be hired & cleared for the mentoring process. I'm excited as heck but nervous too.

I want frequent updates, my man. LOL. Seriously though, you're going to do great things.

Is that a M-915 for your profile pic? I remember driving those in Iraq. I used to be an 88M before I got out and started driving commercially
