As long as you have the "official" CDL/A (not the P) with no restrictions, you should be fine to request an auto for the road test; but would be better off going with a trainer, in a manual. Then you might actually change your mind after all.
Sorry to confuse you; I think you confused us a lil' bit as well, LoL.
Best to ya, man. I really think you made a good choice. Ignore the haters. If I were starting out myself this day and age; that would be on my short list.
Sorry for confusion, was kind of a 2 way street, LoL.

I'm an engineer in the Army & operate heavy equipment. Joined at 37. We can't all be Rambo, especially at that age.
And my CDL is a class A with no restrictions. I renewed it last year.

I am going back in. Trucking is just not for me anymore. I have to join a prior service battalion for six weeks in Fort Lost in the Woods than MOS training again.

Nope I sure DID NOT. I got sincerely confused as to if the auto was gonna be a restriction he chose, or NADA. SOME starter companies make you get your CDL 'thru' them, so I've heard. Been doing this 20 plus years and shouting Kudos to a man, trying to get it going.
