Well back to swift I go. Never had any problems with them before so why not try again. Anyhow here I am at the golden palms hotel in Ocala fl waiting for orientation tomorrow. Already got a roommate. I'll try and post everyday to let you know how my adventure is going this time around. Until then drive safe !!

I started with swift. Got the run around financially, and ended up having to hold truck hostage to settle up. Went owner operator after that and had almost a decade of success. Like any other company, make sure to write everything down, keep copies and don't let them get away with anything. When I was there, it seemed like my terminal was paying 1/2 of the drivers one week, and putting other 1/2 off until the next week. I only got properly paid the right amount on time twice in 6 months of being there. As another option, every West Side Transport driver I have ever talked to out of MA. has always said wonderful things about that company. I have never worked for west side personally...but may be worth checking out if Swift isnt a good fit?

Day 1 is over. Piss test in the morning. Correct applications. Do a road test and a physical. Took all day boring as hell. Guess you gotta play the waiting game just sucks everyone doing everything at the same time. Wait till they are done and then start something else. Anyhow next 2 days are at hotel. Until then drive safe !!

Just did their online cdl test does that mean I got in to schooling and how do they verify work history since I worked for family?

I'm in the same boat, just finished day 1 in SLC. Sounds like my day was the same as yours. The only thing I didn't do was the road test, as I'm fresh out of school and will have to be with a mentor for 240 hours automatically.

Day 2 finally over. Watched a bunch of videos and did more paperwork. Went over the elogs. Anyhow not sure what they gonna do with me yet. They are either gonna put me in truck tomorrow to go otr or put be on the Walmart dedicated. Not really sure which is best they don't really give to much info on this dedicated thing. They have told me one thing but told4 others here something totally different. So if anyone knows anything about Walmart dedicated out of maclenney fl let me know. Thanks !! Until next time drive safe !!

I did Sears dedicated out of Wilkes Barre, PA. The one positive was that I was always close to home. Bad side was that the experience I received with Swift dedicated was very low miles. They pretty much contained me to a 200 mile radius from the DC. I don't know if Walmart would be better? I did pull some loads out of walmart's dc up here in central new york state, as with anything though, in my opinion anything non dedicated is going to give better mileage/i.e. better pay. Just a thought.
bwajla Thanks this. -
Well day 3 over. Means no more chinese food thank goodness. Most people already got mentors and everything else. Just did more paperwork and watched videos all day. BTW im back at home. They put me on the dedicated account so I gotta drive 30 miles to work. Still waiting on my drivers code, they didnt have it for me yet. Ill call them in the morning and see if they got anything yet. Until next time drive safe !!

Hey radny, I am looking at Swift dedicated out of Syracuse, any info on weekly $. home time... thanks
-
The pay depends on which dedicated acct it is. For example, Target refrigerated out of Ft Worth pays about 47 or 48 CPM, Home Depot OTR pays 34 CPM, Kohls pays 31, while Sears pays 33. Home time is also controlled by the customer and what is needed to service the account. The recruiter might be able to tell you, but I doubt it. Someone at the Syracuse yard should be able to though.
