Don't worry yourself so much about "seeing the country". You won't. At least my experience is that other than looking via brief glances from the interstate, you don't really experience much of what this country has to offer, unless you're not too concerned about making money and can afford frequent hometime in different places, rental cars and hotels while OTR.

For example I've passed through Chattanooga, TN at least five times this past year, and every time I see the billboard with the crystal caverns waterfall I think, "Wow that looks awesome...oh well" and then the 70 hour work week drives me to keep going instead.

I do take home time in places I find interesting.. but I don't have a home so this is very cool. Last time u did it in Miami and drove to key west rental car awesome drive.. for me personally if your not gonna take time to enjoy your money what's the point?
